Ah for some reason I saw the comic and interpreted it as being for some education-related event. In my area kids do get volunteer credit for doing things for school and town events.

Don’t even have to pay. Those kids usually need volunteer hours, and school events usually count. Tell them to take 2 hours to make a poster and if it’s AI they won’t get the credit.

In the early 2000s I was at the beach on Long Island. It was midday, a cloudless sky, and hot. Suddenly there was a lot of shouting and pointing, and off in the distance you could barely see a water spout, like a tornado over the water and made of water. It went up into this tiny, dense little cluster of angry looking clouds that were just completely alone in the sky. As it got closer it started to hail golfball-size hailstones they were kind of hollow, like the good, crunchy ice from a fast food soda fountain. We got pelted for maybe 30 seconds and then the spout changed directions and headed out to sea, and the weather went back to normal as if nothing had happened. I occasionally ask my sister (who was there with me at the time) if she remembers, because it seems so odd I think I’m gaslighting myself.

My girlfriend and I saw this with my parents. It was… awkward.

How can you tell here? I’m looking at it and I think I could do something very similar in Inkscape in a half hour or maybe an hour (I’m a little rusty). But it looks like normal vector art to me?

I love* how — in true stupid fashion — they’re naming things after America, which isn’t even the country’s name. We’re the United States of America, just one of several countries located on the North American continental plate.

That said in answer to your question that is a tough one because there are so many unrelated language families in NA. I’d probably pick something either Algonkian or iriquoian. Nituskeenan means “our land” in Cree, for example, and sounds kinda cool.

Rational me agrees with you. But I’m worried that too large a portion of the globe’s growth is coming from AI right now. I feel like they will try to string this out for as long as possible.

GPUs and RAM are global commodities, like oil. China might bring prices down a bit in the short term by adding supply, but ultimately all will be bought up by the highest bidders, who currently seem to have insatiable demand, unlimited funding, and are hell-bent on wrecking the consumer market.

If you’re into self hosting at all check out caliber-web, which uses a calibre-compatible db/backend but a web-based fronted. I switched about 3 years ago after importing my old calibre db and never looked back (household is doing around 90 books/year)
