One of my best friends dad once told me that going to college makes you liberal. He’s a crazy conservative, but I can’t say he’s wrong. Knowing more helps you realize how the world actually works and information your decisions based on grounded logic, but at the same time conservative vs liberal is an interesting take on college. Id phrase it more as “sane vs insane.”

All I can hear is Cipher from the Matrix.

Maybe that’s the thing I haven’t learned yet.

I know it’s not for everyone, but I personally prefer Splenda or sucralose.

Our local coffee shop only has sugar in the raw, and stevia. Blech.

I actually spent some time thinking about this. I guess it’s because I was a developer for 17 years before I ever heard about lambda calculus or functional programming, and it was really difficult for me to wrap my brain around it.

I like immutability, and discriminated unions, and I can handle monads, but a lot of the rest of it gets too far into the weeds for me. Writing a function that is just a single return statement that chains together a bunch of map and reduce calls just doesn’t click for me.

“If it compiles, it works.” Yeah, I’ve never found that to be true. And don’t get me started on how you can’t debug chained calls when something inevitably goes sideways.

Once I heard someone say “a monad is a monoid in the category of endofunctors” I was officially out. No thanks. Not for me.

I saw it in the theater when it came out. Loved it.

Functional programming.

A new plague, more global warning, and more wealth disparity. Continue that every year for the foreseeable future.

I’m sure they didn’t actually move. They just bought a house in another state and declared it as their primary residence.

They’re just going to do whatever Dubai or the UAE did with their beaches and air condition the ground.

They’re worse than boats. If anything breaks on an RV, and it will, it’s really hard to get parts for them, and good luck finding an RV mechanic when it’s “in season.” Back when I had an RV, some kids outside were playing catch and ended up breaking one of my windows, and it took 3 months and countless calls with the manufacturer to get a new window. If you live in colder climates, you have to winterize your RV every year. They leak, and require constant maintenance. And if one of the tires blows out? It could total your RV.

Rent one if you must, but do not buy one.
