I’ve been reading more about the job market in Spain lately and it sounds like they have a similar problem. Not nearly to the extent that Japan does, but similar attitudes about being at work for unnecessarily long hours even if there’s no real point. There doesn’t appear to be any reward, either. I don’t blame people for declining to participate.
Yeah like, they have negative charisma, so it’s extra baffling. I cannot imagine a world in which I’d support Donald Trump, but definitely not in this one where he routinely shits his own diaper. If he was only disgusting mentally but was a good speaker or handsome or whatever, it would make at least a little more sense
I think most of Europe has places that can accommodate that, especially if you travel outside of big cities. I’d put more of my budget into a place to stay and slightly less into food, but that’s my personal preference, and I’ve found tons of meals out for a lot less than that. I don’t think we spent more than maybe 40 euros for a meal for two anywhere in Spain, including wine/beer, and many were more like 25. Even Berlin and Munich were pretty reasonable and we made up the difference by going to Aldi for some of our breakfast/dinner food.
What would you consider a low price level? My mom and I have been to a lot of places that aren’t traditionally known as cheap, but we usually stay in places with a kitchen (aparthotels, mainly, we avoid airbnb) and grocery shop so we spend far less on food than a lot of people would. We also travel outside of peak season, primarily to avoid the crowds but it’s also less expensive.
Oh I plan on it, but tbh about 50% of the appeal of the UK version is that I’ve had a crush on Greg Davies for about 100 years and on Alex Horne since the moment I became aware of his existence. I love the show on its own merits but I’m not sure the international versions will hit the same.
I’ve been playing so much of that the last few weeks. It requires just enough attention to be distracting but it’s still totally stress free. That plus Taskmaster has been my coping mechanism for anxiety.
I have a very hard time believing that the rest of the world will trust the US for a very long time, if ever, so I can’t imagine our financial situation is going to improve for anyone except maybe the ultra wealthy (as usual). I haven’t even looked at my retirement because it’s not like there’s much I can do besides stress about it.
No, I’d be going on a non-lucrative visa. Not off my own earnings because I’m a millennial who was idealistic enough to go into public service, but my mom has enough retirement and assets to swing the fairly modest income requirements for us both and she wants me to come. She’s worried I’m going to end up dead in El Salvador, being a member of several targeted groups by this administration.
Just having it in stock seems like a miracle from everything I’ve seen for a while. I may be moving to Europe late this year or next year and my income will be dropping to about half (with a generally much lower COL, but PC parts look to be about comparable to the US at the moment) so I’m guessing I may be able to find the parts but affording them will be a different matter.
I have a 3080 and usually play on a patient gamer schedule so I don’t really need to update yet, but I sort of wish I had now. I feel like my current build is going to have to last me for a lot longer than anticipated. But that’s ok, it’s probably better for my bank account to hoard the money I have anyway.

I know I should go to therapy but then I feel bad burdening a therapist with things like, “I’m so angry that the only thing that helps me sleep is imagining the entire current administration getting hit by a very localized meteor,” because like, this shit is too big and we all have our coping mechanisms, right? Can’t. Eggs have to be cage free in CO since January 1st. The law passed 2 years ago, so of course egg companies are acting like they couldn’t possibly have prepared for it to take effect. The plus side (for me and like 5 other people) is that this makes the vegan egg alternative seem WAY more reasonably priced these days.
I love older dogs. I used to foster seniors (one of whom my parents adopted), and we adopted my current dog at a very youthful 6. She’s 9 now and a total butt. I love her to pieces. We’ve also had really good luck - all but one of my dogs has lived to 15+. If my dog wasn’t so hostile, I’d happily have another one but she’s not a fan.

I always liked sauerkraut but I was weirdly against the idea of kimchi as a kid. I think the first time I heard of it, it was described by someone who didn’t like it because it sounded super gross, and I had zero spice tolerance. These days, I put it on practically everything or eat it by itself as a side.
It’s really, really obvious, too. I don’t have a reddit account anymore, but I occasionally scroll through popular, and r/world is such blatant propaganda that it makes r/conservative look reasonable. Like, damn guys, at least try to make it believable.
