it mostly tastes “brown” and “woody” to me. has a little bit of a resinous/creosote/herbaceous edge to it.

chicory has a distinct taste, and is far cheaper than coffee. some enjoy it. i got some chicory some years back and tried determining if i liked it, but after some experimentation determined my ideal chicory-to-coffee ratio is zero:any.

i go through a 350g bag of coffee in around 7 weeks. have tried a bunch of storage techniques, rn i just parcel it into a few 100g portions and stack those in the airscape

ive had a variety of instant coffees but wouldn’t say i could recommend any. i would try the commeteers if i ever saw them for sale. the instant coffee from the coffee machine at the county hospital when i was a little kid is a deep nostalgia memory for me…

i had brought home a bag of their beans and having brewed it a few days now im certainly enjoying. it is one of those “forgiving” roasts, havent yet found the astringency ledge.

good quality tea is a whole different world. i love it.

stopped in at dorothea coffee this week in mt. vernon, wa. it was two guys in a tiny space with a roaster taking up about a third of it, a counter, and a little bit of bar seating. the menu is pourovers of a bunch of their coffees, or you can have a drip/cafe au lait if you want. i would recommend this spot to anyone with an interest in quality coffee.
