Linux@lemmy.ml•An upcoming California law requires operating system providers to enforce basic mandatory age verification
6·3 months agoAccording to Gabe Newell, something like 90% of steam users were both on 1/1/99 (might be fudging the numbers somewhat but presumably you get the idea).

When I met my wife, she loved going to theaters to see kids see something amazing for the first time.
She’s so wonderful.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why do people go out of their way to dodge manhole covers while driving?
2·3 months agoMaybe you and they are on opposite sides of the world so, when the chimneys sink on their side, the counterparts on your side are pushed out.
Hulu used to do something like this if they detected an ad blocker, IIRC … Except they would also display a blurb about what they were doing to encourage you to stop trying.

Once I showed the movie Gattaca to some friends who had never seen it. All of us had comments to make about it and every time anyone talked I paused the movie so people could make their observations, ask their questions, etc.
A bit later after several pauses my wife said “we’ve been watching this movie for 45 minutes and we’re only 10 minutes into it.”
Sounds like you should go to space.

4·3 months agoYes. You will regret asking.
To put it simply, a redditor repeatedly jerked off into (IIRC) a shoebox for an extended period. The same box, no disposal or cleanup of any sort. He made a casual reference to this box and was surprised when others couldn’t relate. He posted pictures.
I never saw the pictures and I don’t intend to, so if you are interested to learn more, you’ll have to do your own searches.

4·3 months agoI think the popularity wasn’t so much about the tool itself but about the original poster not realizing it was unusual. Like the cumbox.
Soon I’m supposed to have a surgery on my spine but possibly coming from the front. I’ve had about a thousand MRIs leading up to this. Apparently a goodly number of them were just checking to see if they could even get to my spine past the stomach (and, more than that, veins).
I don’t really want to need the surgery, but I don’t envy the surgeons, either.
