So, you take a green ass banana, peel it, slice it up, deep fry it, drizzle some salt over it, delicious :)) (also, we ain’t got no plantains in the villages of southern Germany, I improvised).

They mean plantain. Or they should anyway.

Plantain is a whimsical tree potato.

They’re related. Plantain is much larger and startchier. They don’t ever get sweet enough to eat raw on their own. But fried they’re awesome.

Agreed. Loved fried plantain. I just thought they looked too small to be plantain in the picture.

I can’t get plantains where I live, so I used actual bananas, but green, unripened.

This looks great! The type of banana you need for this recipe is usually available in African shops, at least they are here in the Rhein-Main-area. I used to live just a few blocks from a small African shop that provided me with some of the more obscure ingredients you wouldn’t find at the local Rewe.

Thanks! I know I could find plantains in the big city, but I live in the countryside. I order spices online, but fresh produce is a bit more difficult to get where I live.
