In the best case, the detection is at the 2.4 sigma confidence level (less than the usual 3 for reasonable confidence and will below the 5 required for strong confidence), and if previously suspected issues with the instrument are true, the detection could disappear completely.
I do not have a strong confidence in this result. (But at least they didn’t publish it in Nature, in which case you would absolutely know it’s wrong…)
If there is life outside of our solar system forget about them. They don’t need us bringing our bullshit to them.

If that’s the case We don’t need their bullshit coming here either. This planet already sucks enough.
Maybe they would act as a uniting force? :D
I admire the optimisim
It’s hard to imagine how we’d even communicate with intelligent life hundreds of light years from us.
I’ll just wait for the PBS Space Time video to tell me it’s not aliens.
