Currently Lemmy has a decent selection of communities and nearly any post gets a good traction, you easily find yourself in convos and can recognise others if you frequent enough
I don’t think this would be the case for long if Lemmy got big, maybe 10% of Reddit is enough
But maybe because of how Lemmy is maintained, instances like beehaw might defederate, again allowing for smaller communities
I don’t know, I really like where Lemmy is tbh, bit iffy on the .world situation, donated a bit, Lemmy is nice. Yeah. Lemmy is nice. I like Lemmy.
I’m of two minds about this. I’m actually starting to enjoy seeing the same people that I like seeing regularly. Been using an app that lets you tag users and I’ve had a lot of fun in the last couple of days tagging different people that I like with 💜, ⭐, 🙂 or ✊ lol. I’ve also given one person a red flag 🟥 so far but haven’t actually seen them around again.
But also, some more activity would definitely be nice. One thing I like on Reddit is that you can go to AskReddit and just spend the whole day there refreshing the feed and talking about whatever, if you want. Here, even if you combine all the different ask and chat style communities, you’ll still end in days old posts in no time.
It’s also nice being able to search niche things and finding active colonies that revolve around those things. Whether it’s a hobby or a collectable or that obscure TV show that you watched as a kid that no one ever talks about.
I wouldn’t mind a best of both worlds here.
