      #3 makes me think its sudden explosion in popular discourse is akin to the conservative panic over raceplay: taking a weird niche porn category and treating it like nonfiction so one can hold it up as proof of how “d-generate” society is.

        It would be interesting to see if like cuck/raceplay, this kink is highly disproportionately one sought out by conservatives. I imagine there’s some truly interesting psychosexual politics involved, but the masturbation/shame cycle has been a major influence in conservative politics for a very long time.
