Are we back to caring about Galloway? I thought he’s a strident transphobe but I don’t live out there.

I know finkelstein-lambaste had some bad moments but the consensus seems to be that a) his principled and lifelong critique of Zionism is peerless and b) he seems to have been quite effectively cowed into shutting up about trans stuff bc he recognized he fucked up that we tend to overlook his shit takes.

Is Galloway good enough on Palestine to redeem his hate speech?

Galloway is a man entirely without red lines as to what tactics are acceptable and what are not. He rolls around in so much filth it is impossible to get a solid read on him. One week he’s currying anti-muslim and anti-migrant sentiment to win an election, the next week he’s pro-muslim in his community and actually kinda popular among certain muslim groups.

I personally think he is not committed to any line on any topic except the end of capitalism and he will take on any opinion if he believes it is advantageous to do so in the moment. The problem is that “advantageous” to him includes that which is personally advantageous without care for how it may be negative for the left as a whole.
