Omg his justification is “Well yeah I’m a hypocrite on this issue” and thats it. The End.
Goes to show just how useless “debate” actually is, you can get someone to admit to being a hypocrite, filmed and on stage, and they won’t change their behaviour.
Often debate isn’t to convince the person you’re talking to. Debate is to convince all the people on the edge who listen to it. Debate is for those who haven’t made up their mind yet and can be convinced by the arguments of one of the two debaters
True, but there needs to be an emotional component. I don’t think people are going to upend their diet and commit longterm without emotional investment. There will always be that part trying to rationalize a little oppression, you know, vegetarians. Plus saying that I believe how we treat animals is incomprehensibly horrendous but in a matter-of-fact way is just gonna come across as insincere because it is.

This is probably cope, but this is CHUDs thoughts deep down: “Yeah, you’re probably right…but fuck you anyway.”
This right here is why carnist chuds get so defensive about veganism
Tbh, this is how many carnists think: ”I know the meat industry is horrible, but I still eat meat because [insert excuse here]”.
Right, but he doesn’t even bother with an excuse. He just straight up goes “ya got me bud” and thats it. No excuse left, but still
“I know the meat industry is horrible, but I still eat meat because I don’t care/meat tastes good” is also a very common carnist line :yea:

Only true master debaters understand this

This is the furthest I can get with a carnist as well
