The invasion started with the US and Ukrainian governments saying Russia would invade on a certain day, and then when it wouldn’t happen the Ukranian military would escalate the shelling of the DPR and LPR cities. Finally Russia invaded. I can’t think of any way to see this except they were trying to force Russia to intervene.
