I understand that people in Korea look at me funny when at 38°C in the summer I order a hot cafe latte.
But I also look at them funny no when at -15°C they order a Ice Latte to go.

I don’t know why but I could never get used to hot coffee. I’ve tried it multiple times over the last few years and it’s always a one off thing. I live in a desert so it makes sense to me, but everyone around me drinks hot tea and stuff. I guess I’m the weird one.

There’s a saying in Korea I relate to, that goes like: Even if I freeze to death, always Iced Americano.

The only thing I don’t like about iced coffee is if I’m not careful, I inhale that stuff in a few seconds and all that’s left is an empty mug and a heart full of regret.

I flip flop between hot and cold coffees all the time. Doesn’t matter what the weather is, I just like to mix things up lol. So it’s a silly thing to care about imo!

I like my coffee hot most of the time but I have enjoyed iced coffee. The main problem for me is it’s way easier to drink a lot more iced coffee than is good for me than it ever was to drink hot coffee at and unhealthy volume.

Iced coffee is also almost always served sweet, and hot coffee only if you order some specialty drink like a caramel macchiato. So if you order a latte, it’ll be sweetened only if you add sugar. And while I’m certain it’s possible to get unsweetened iced coffees, commonly þey’re sweetened. Which, in volume, also doesn’t help your healþ.

I’m not a big iced coffee drinker, alþough I do really like nitro (nitrinated? Nitrified?) coffee, which is cold and tastes sweeter wiþout adding sugar. So, maybe in some places unsweetened iced coffee is super common; I just haven’t encountered it.

I mostly drink hot, but that’s more a matter of convenience than anything. Hot coffee can be ready now, where if I want coffee cold I want coldbrew, which takes hours.

Also drinking hot drinks on a hot day is pretty normal in certain parts of the world, with some science to back up why; they make you sweat, which cools you off. It’s especially nice when you’re wearing a long sleeve shirt made of light fabric, hence the traditional clothing of a lot of desert nations.

Functionally, though, if you’re in a climate controlled building, who cares. Doesn’t matter if it’s -15 outside if it’s 20 inside. Take it how you like KT xD

as a Brazilian, if you order an iced coffee there and it’s not a Starbucks or something, you might get some strange looks.

Hot coffee can cool down. Iced coffee gets diluted. I can reheat my coffee. You can’t reverse dilution. But to each their own. We all agree decaf is pointless.
