    Since it’s a study area, probably because of the carbonation sounds and the sound from opening the can.

      Also, carbonated beverages leave the container of their own volition, which can cause them to spill on books. If you’re bringing hard liquor to the library, you’re dedicated enough to make sure it gets drunk.
