Usually it’s a Bluetooth connection to your smartphone, which runs an app to show you some analytical data about your brushing performance
So, you don’t really need to connect your toothbrush to your smartphone/app to use it

What’s more annoying are the controls/options, that are only accessible through the app

I needed to buy a new Philips Sonicare after dropping my old one, which broke something at motor or so…at least it didn’t work anymore.
But the new one has one physical button less and you need to use the app now to change the brushing mode.
They have 4-5 different modes and I prefer one of them.
Now I have to set the mode through app for every new brush head.

      And that really sucks…

Not sure why they’re pushing the apps though.
Maybe they also got into the side business of selling customer data…no clue

Can’t really understand what they can do with the data

It’s having permissions to access the network, nearby devices (to access the toothbrush) and can send notifications

What is there to really sell?
They don’t see what I’m interested in it whatever.
They do know my brushing procedure and so on.

Do they sell it to private dental insurance or what could they possibly do with it?

Maybe I’m just not creative enough…
