In North America they benefit from protectionist laws to keep people from buying cars directly from manufacturers, which adds approximately $2k to the sale of each car on average. Pointless middlemen who are almost universally the worst people you can imagine. And the dealer service shops are not much better than scams either.
I’m sorry you had that experience. I work with former dealer technicians and they are good at fixing cars. Decent people all around. The service writers are often to blame. But with all that money on the line there is plenty of blame to go around. Fuck cars.
