The comment comes from completely different reasons.
Whenever someone talks about socialism, 99% of the time it’s either some stalinist state capitalist delusion or social democratic welfare state that may or may not wear red (like China/Scandinavia). To run a welfare state, you need to have very high rates of profit to actually fund it, and the superprofits from WW2 have been dry for 50+ years at this point, with the rate of profit continuously dropping ever since and it can easily be seen with what’s happening to welfare in general worldwide.
If a nation state was to be ran by bourgeois socialists who truly believe they’re doing good, CIA or not it’s gonna go to shit real quick due to rising debts, capital flight, etc. That’s pretty much what happened to Allende’s Chile (even though CIA did make it worse), and the solution isn’t to beat your head against reality or how the world works and reform capitalism, but abolish capitalism altogether through international revolutions and DOTP’s, although it’s a historically unfavorable time for those as of now.
But then when the AES inevitably fails, who will leftists blame?
Weirdly liberal comment for your instance
