Microsoft could do a Windows 11 lite and may have to if RAM shortages continue but doesn’t care about it’s smaller customers enough to bother.
Linux is waiting.
I recently HAD to “upgrade” to Win11 with a new box. I hate it, it’s not only an awful experience, it feels like a children’s toy. My daily mantra is “Fuck Microsoft”!
I do use Linux personally, and my wife wants to try but isn’t committing yet. My MIL will be using Linux once summer is over, and she can spend time on the computer instead of in the garden. I’m thinking of starting a run of Arch Linux on my old Win10 box, to up my skills a lot.
