I really have to try hard to see it going clockwise. I suspect it’s rendered with perspective projection (as opposed to orthographic) so there really is only one correct way to perceive it.
It spins counterclockwise if you interpret the image as looking at the sphere at an angle above the equator (you see the north pole spinning). If you instead force yourself to look at it as if you were below the equator (watching the south pole spin), then it moves clockwise.
