I mean of course this is just a Rockstar puff piece, but how sick must one’s way of thinking must be that people enjoying themselves immediately makes you jump to “but what about labour productivity”?
on the other hand I like that it makes the news already because i do not intend to play it but noone at work needs to know that right? might as well use that as a reason to level my “productivity” to theirs ;)
I came here to say this. It’s creepy that their first thought was this, but also, the obsession with a new game usually lasts for like 2-3 weeks, and then people are normal about it once more. Is it really going to affect them so much that Dave is slightly less efficient for less than a month? Oh, the horrors.
That sounds silly.
In my company this was normal. New great game got released? People took a week off or two, or worked more from home or moved to part-time. And it was all fine. I already expected that as I am a gamer myself 😁
That’s what most capitalist numbnuts just don’t get: a happy employee is a productive employee.
Mine had profit-shares (from janitor upwards), come-and-go-as-you-please, free food and drinks and whatnot. No stupid forced meetings or dumb “bonding-trips” or anything. And guess what? Noone ever exploited the system. Every agree-upon work was always delivererd. Often before estimated deadline. And also I didn’t earn 35838291x the average employee-salary. Just a tiny bit more, which is fair considering it was my risk all alone.
Point is…people who do these headlines, or even think like this, have totally lost reality and were never really human but just a worker-bee with more money. I usually pity them. No amount of money will ever fill their inner void.
