It’s an AI centric “OS” that is being funded by friends and associates of it’s “developer” Daivd Heinemeier Hansen or DHH as he goes by.

It’s essentially a fork of Arch Linux that has been vibe coded by an AI agent to incorporate DHH’s dotfile configurations. It has AI heavily baked into it and is configured in a way that forces the user to use and subscribe to whatever AI agent (they’re all preinstalled btw) they choose in order to configure the system. It uses Hyprland as it’s tiling window manager and has turned the one file lua config for that into 6 separate lua configs that are designed to only be utilized by AI. it has idiotic default keybinds (for example one keybind opens twitter/X) and comes bloated with preinstalled software thus you get a 6GB Iso.

It’s being backed by companies and friends of DHH who have vested interest in AI. Unlike say Windows where a user can easily use the OS without having to use AI with Omarchy you really don’t have a choice if you want to get anything done, thus the reason it’s being backed so heavily. It forces the user to use AI. It’s a bait and switch.
