  • Fuck that’s amazing information. I had no idea 3d printers were at that level to hold that tight of tolerances. Enough for me to look into making a purchasing proposal for a desktop 3d printer to make gages for all the warehouse pickers and packers to keep on hand for checking every order before it’s shipped. We’ve already batted the idea of getting one to use for machine shop maintenance and repairs but the roi saving needed way too much use than avg number of repairs needed per year. Add this to those numbers tho and they would more than balance those scales to the black. Plus most of the rma cost tracking we do is projected at best so I could give the picker with the most rma’s a set of gages I’ll make on the mill and lathe after work. Show a month or so of zero mistake picking and bam pile on an absurd amount of operating cost savings as rma reduction potential and well be printing in no time. Really, awesome shit. Thank you.

    What’s the deviation tolerances of the actual hole sizes? I’m American so I’ve only machined using inches or converting metric to inches. So are we talking +/-.005 or +/-.0005? Decided to make gages for hydraulic tube sizes for real time quality assurance from our picking and packing department to use. Ended up going with counter sinking pins for carpentry but never found a female gauge option for the male tube connections. Wasn’t important enough to spend any more time or money on. That’s also why I said fuck the machining gage pins, they’re expensive as fuck. What you made tho is exactly what i was looking for.




  • It never hurts to keep a pulse on your marketing value tho. When was the last time you sent out your resume to see what you would be making anywhere else.

    I’m new to office work scene so take this next bit anecdotally coming from someone who spent 10-15 years working as a machinist, chef and nurses aid, in that I lack the drive most have to be upset about the working from home shit. I’m a far more productive human outside of work with the structure and stability I get from having 9-5 hours 5 days a week work schedule. It’s something that’s always been apart of life and am too long sighted to let the 2 pamdemic years out of the 40-50 total years ill be working affect any decision regarding my means to make a living.

    My approach to my career has always been influenced by what my uncle told me when i was in highschool. Which was, that even if my dream job was marine biology, after 30 years of feeding fish to dolphins I’ll get sick of it.

    The paraphrased message of it was to make career decisions based off salary, compensation or job stability and not based off what makes me happy because a person’s happiness is more affected by not having the means to live a happy life outside of work because your career path decision resulted in you being without a job.

    For you specifically my recommendation will assume you don’t work for pricks and would request with your application submission to have your interviewer not reach out to your current employer.

    I would send out feelers to jobs you researched and classify as being “dream” jobs or enough improvements to you your current compensation for you to be interested. I would do this in 2 fashions. The first by sending resumes with your current qualifications and the second by maybe not sending resumes but definitely reaching out on jobs that would be available after you recieved the next tier of certification(s). Cross that with the cost, both on financial terms but also time spent terms (I’ve quantified this by apply my hourly wage as the hourly cost for time required for training. Not sire that is appropriate way of applying monetary value to free time spent), plus any additional but measurable costs or savings from things like commute for training or work from commute cost-savings.

    If any jobs remain in the black means you will be better off making the change.

    As for help making the decision to change, that’s all between you and your household dependants and filers. Only you know your own abilities to adapt to change, cope with stress, get along with new crowds. You also only know the other environmental variables affecting your decision like would you need to move residence, would there be a window of lost medical coverage (which would ve grouped in with the cost analysis if you needed to pay for your own medical switching jobs), but most importantly how much value you’re are putting into the things your missing out on. If you are missing out on hours spent gaming then maybe naaaa that shouldn’t be something to factor in. If your missing out on your dying mother/husband/child’s last days before the cancer kicks in then yeah that should play a factor in your decision.

    Edit: To go a bit further, you don’t even have to go on any actual interviews. Just look to get accurate information about the job atmosphere and compensation. For me I was able to get that mostly thru the calls to set up an interview.

    When I did go thru with seting up a couple interviews with the best options, there was no gripe from any of them when it came time to give them an answer to start the job and my response was always, “Thank you for the offer and time you gave me but my current employer has decided to match your competing offer to keep me on their team.” By taking this approach, you mitigate backlash from current employer finding out you are looking around, you gave potential employer prospects no reason to think you were only fishing for competitive offers or had no intent of taking the job but rather gave them proof the reasons they were going to hire you were justified that your employer’s ROI out weigh your employee compensation costs. Plus any company that would be bitter for potential employee candidates giving current employers opportunities to match their compensation offers is really looking to hire someone barely smart enough to do the job but dumb enough to not leave.

    My experience using these recommendations are only been driven by requesting wages increases via presenting current employers with competing offers to match, not for improving my position/role thru training. So to add to the disclaimer in the body of this message, these recommendstions also assume you know your value to your employer and have been in good standing for several years in their eyes.












  • Which is the whole point. If they had 1 email, 1 PO, 1 documented proof of agreement, this would never be a fuckin court case. What is more likely, that X is risking liability for the $20M + legal costs in court trying to renege $20M down to $18M? All this suing company has to do, as I stated above, is show one acknowledgment and confirmation between the two parties and its an open and close case.

    There was a judge (I’m going off memory from hearing it on the radio a year or so ago) in Canada who held a farmer liable for responding to a text with a thumbs up to a contractor asking if he got the contract he sent the farmer. Farmer went into court with the defense he was acknowledging that he received the text but it wasn’t enough to convince beyond reasonable doubt there wasn’t an understanding between the two.

    If Twitter and Elon were trying to weasel out of paying this company, THEY WOULD BE SUING THEM for some made up breech of contract BS like they’re doing to advertisers.


  • Hahaha yeah otherwise they wouldn’t be trying to sue to recoup losses. It happens all the time in sales. I can’t even tell you the amount of times I have told new sales reps, I will not place anticipatory PO’s without payment confirmation or full compliance with not just the purchase order’s parameters for payment on large orders but also an email or otherwise documented acknowledgment of our sales order confirmation. Especially in any case where:

    1. The sales rep has a PO from customer but no payment confirmation/information OR

    2. If it’s an order over, let’s say $10,000 OR

    3. If it’s the first time customer is purchasing from us and they want to make a blanket order OR

    4. If they’re an international customer placing ANY orders over $500, or have seperate countries for billing and shipping address, or they’re shipping to a country on our “fuck shipping to these countries” list

    All those scenarios happen and happen often. Theyre not 100% of nepharious lost revenue cases but I’d say they make up 80-90% of the shit companies have sitting on a warehouse top shelf. Only getting moved to make room for other stuff.

    Any business doing fabrications or custom fuckin anything, also will 100% of the time have a signed drawing or print, payment in full before it’s released to production floor, usually a +/- 5% runoff or shorting stipulation for any qty over 1,000-3,000 custom anything, and constant communication through out the entire process.

    For this exact very real very common shit storm.

    So and so’s cnc machine broke down we can only make 1,000 of the 10,000 you ordered.

    It was a government contract to redo the electrical work at Governor Cuomo’s house, how should I know he was going to be removed from office?

    Everything this lawsuit outlines, fuckkn screams new business, 1st large contract. All the need is one email, one purchase order, fuck even just a sales order from Twitter and they wouldn’t ever make it close to a court house before the Twitter boardmembers looked at the liability, the legal costs and the very slim liklihood they would come out better than if they paid the $20 million. And anyone who argues that $20 Million is enough to try and skip out on and risk letting it go to court has no fucking idea to the quantifiable difference between $20 million and $8-$20 Billion (what im guessing Twitter is still worth assuming it was about $40B when Elon bought and estimates have it between 50% and 80% the value when it sold. Even at the middle $14B, $20M is only 0.14285714% of $14B. No that’s not a mistake the decimal is where it should be lol. Check it by multiplying $14B*0.0014285714
