When they make it, they put in an <advertising tag> in the locations during the podcast they want the advertising to be, then they sell the advertising space. If there is no local advert, it skips, if there is one, it pulls and plays that.

For the simple response - they group all the searches from your location based on IP, and the results are weighted from that.
So if your town has a airshow on, all the DDG users that search for airshow near you will bump those responses up the weighting scale for all uses in your area. Regardless of you search for it.

Aus for example community servers get full quick, there is a pro league going with multiple divisions, and then those who try brave casual servers as well.
Aus alone would have over 500+ players regularly playing daily.

Reason I ask is that valve would be unlikely to monitor anywhere for feedback, but if they did put any effort in, it would be wherever the largest active community resides.
