Oh man, I miss the early days of Stumbleupon. So many unique sites.

It’s missing the hip bones. Gotta put those in for extra science. Pic Ref

The Seeed T1000-E is by far the best hiking companion. It’s water and dust-proof, has a 2+ day battery life, and excellent range in credit-card form factor. Plus it looks nothing like a radio so it won’t attract suspicion from certain groups.
The format is called RTTTL
Yup! Under the External Notification config menu there’s a section to program the piezo buzzer tone/delay sequence. I changed mine to be more of a chirp than a full ringtone.
I do like the ringtone. But I think what’s even cooler is the ability to set your own ringtone through the config.

If you open the case it’s a one-time deal and it won’t ever be water resistant again. But even without water resistance is still an amazingly compact and well-engineered device.

I’m not sure what their comparison is, but the 1/8-wave antenna in the 1000E is plenty strong enough. My current ground-to-air distance record of 90+ miles is with someone in a plane who had a 1000E. It’s loads better than my Heltec V3, and out-performs everything i have except for the base stations with specialized antennas.

You won’t regret it. The T-1000E is my EDC and it’s great.
This guy fusions

I hit a snag when we had to replace the vehicle unexpectedly. The new one has no good mounting options besides magnetic attachment so I’m still looking.
Dang, that’s a nice throwback.

Ah, a fellow engineer!

Perfect use of scientific vocabulary.

I think they’re referring to this species. Although the cloning aspect adds yet another layer of wtf on top.

Add to that the capability of Meshtastic to do basic encryption and a device entry fee of <$15. Limited scope doesnt matter as much if it’s widespread enough.

I read through that entire thing, saw Charles, and just skipped right over it. That’s perfect though.

You could also get one of the SSD drives that look like flash storage. I got a “usb stick” with 512GB SSD for about $60 last year.
For sure. I’m going the easy route and just making a webring host site first. Testing out a few codebases right now and should have something this week.
