I did a podcast (yes I know ha. ha.) About finding the hegemony in our favorite media. and now my wife makes fun of me for yelling at people on the TV like a cis man yells at football.

How I’ve gotten around this is look for the good things and find the media that has more good then bad or that you can twist to your ideals.

Exp Early Bob’s Burgers is rough. But there is a decent amount of cop and power criticisms for big adult ananimated show. The Winthrop Manor and the Business Monster episodes are very good in this regard. There is also a episode thats pretty ACAB in season 2 I think.

You just got to find your diomands in the roughs.

Nothing is ever going to be perfect. But hey the critcisms give us something to talk about

Unchecked fear is the enemy of a good life.

The short version for, fear that controls you makes everything worse and makes you easy to control. It eats away at your sanity. It makes it impossible to learn, to love, to create. You must learn to let go to live.

My chicks are about 4 weeks old now and quickly entering awkward teenage phase. Will hopefully transitioning them to their coop in a few more weeks.

Also a group I help started for local needs is still going strong despite my not being there really the last few months cause of health and now surgery recovery. They are good people and I’m hoping we can build a strong base to get things moving in the right direction for more collapse shit happening. It’s honestly been very up lifting the amount of people who have reached out to provide resources or help in some way or another. I think regardless of what happens our area will be able to respond.

Yes that is their purpose now. My statement is more in if we lived in a world where we had the luxury of asking these questions or if the snake oil men had a much harder time existing.

The existence of them right now is just going to happen because it’s serves the purpose of keeping a certain group of people safe while being able to use as a weapon against different groups that are not the in group. But this happens with almost evey structure under captalism and fascism. In regards to snake oil, it’s a very hard thing to get rid of when the very system is a system of snake oil. So most positions of authority are always double sided. That’s not even getting into the complicated nature of snake oil and the medical industry being horrible.

I think it depends on a lot of factors. What’s your government like? What is the authority trying to accomplish? What are penalties? Are there penalties? Is it somehow getting in the way of human experience (street food). Is this being used only as a weapon for the ruling class to attack the marginalized? Is it actually accomplishing anything that is deem worth while for the public good? Is there research being done to make sure this is providing a public good? Etc

Sitting recovering from my surgery. I can already tell it has made a difference.

I got my microphone degree right when COVID hit. Not only could I not get a job ironically, but I got to try and explain to people who wouldn’t listen about the ramifications of COVID in the future.

I used to be with it. Then they changed what it is. It’ll happen to you!

Interesting, I didn’t think about a chunk of rock salt. I’ll need to experiment with that.

For me, I started a local group whose focus was community building through direct action. It started with a IRL meeting of like 5 people and has been expanding outwards. We are working on ICE/Cop watch. Community meals. Helping the local housing first project in town. And a section that focuses on the local city council.

We have a lot of things we want to do but we are mostly focusing on building connections and trust in the community. Given we are only a year old, I think we are doing a good job.

All of this to say, reach out to local people and figure out what is the most pressing issues of your community and work on that. Strengthening connections as the empire falls is very important.

Ive used some salt in the past but its so-so effective and it’s a pain for the cholesterol.
