I agree we should not start with violence. And we didn’t start with violence. Our peaceful protests have been met with violence and 50 year prison sentences for non-violent protest. The time for non-violent methods has passed. There is no peaceful solution any more.

But we need to be able to communicate to organize the next steps. Those of us ready and willing to engage in those next steps don’t have any platform or place for that as far as I can tell. Where do we sign up to fight? Where do we go to train with others? Where do we go to even communicate plans without our comments being removed?

You don’t know what any individual sees as beautiful. My tastes are mine, thank you very much, and I am unique goddammit!

Seriously, most people are hyper critical of how they look. Most folks hate the way they look in photos and how they sound in recordings. This isn’t a trans thing. This is a human thing. The trans part of this just amplifies that feeling sometimes. So, recognize that and accept that some people will love you and find you beautiful exactly as you are, no matter where you are on this trip.

The world is filled with terrible people. You ain’t one of 'em. Your existence dilutes the asshole ratio and therefore improves the lives of everyone around you. Depression makes that very hard to see. Let’s address this depression by finding the right therapist. You might have to go to a dozen of them to find the perfect one for you. A conservative cannot change. It can only stop existing. Every time I call for that change to happen on social media like lemmy, the post gets removed.

We desperately need to finish the civil war. As long as conservatives exist, the evil version of the US exists. We can solve that, but not without the ability to fucking at least communicate and organize. Where can I go to be involved in organized vi----t resistance?

Corporations and even independent platforms like Lemmy forbid such discussion. But there is absolutely no peaceful solution to conservatism/fascism. We’re stuck. Should we take direct violent action against neighbors at this point? The results would not be enough without organizing.

Everyone demands action, but no one seems to have a good answer on how to communicate about what actually needs to be done. We need a platform we can actually communicate on without comments being removed for “promoting violence”.

“Almost always violent” is a decent upgrade from “definitely always violent from now on”.

Conservatives are violent fascists by nature. History proves this. They should not be in charge of anything at all. Ever. The moment they hold any kind of authority, they become an infestation of pests.

This is an apt analogy. Conservatism IS cancer. It spreads and brings with it only sickness and death. There is no way to change cancer. Letting it live will kill the patient. The only cure causes pain and suffering for the survivor. Treatment is painful, messy and dangerous, but is absolutely required for survival.

This is exactly how I feel every time I suggest the correct way to deal with conservative fascism is with violence. Some commenter will always come along with, “that makes you just as bad as them” and “you’re part of the problem”.

It is not easy to be accepted into a foreign legion. Most who are accepted have military experience, a high level of physical fitness and limited family ties in their country of origin.

Ukraine’s foreign legion is an exception in that they currently accept people willing/able to help build drones. If going the foreign legion route, I strongly recommend considering Ukraine first, as they currently have the widest availability of job categories.

I’ve seen a lot of suggestions to join NGO’s. Ukraine also has a lot of NGO options, but those jobs can be significantly more dangerous than building drones. NGO’s are frequently targeted by invaders as NGO’s often operate in active areas to serve locals where the help is most needed.

When conservatives are shown definitive proof that their thugs are harming innocent people, they do not change their position. They simply say, “well, I don’t know about that”. But that is a lie. They DO know about that. They do know what is happening right now and they are absolutely not interested in changing or stopping it. Their representatives hold both chambers of congress. Conservatives can stop this anytime they like and they are actively choosing not to. They completely understand the situation at this point and are choosing evil.

I agree that they are trained to see empathy as weakness. Growing up in south Texas, living there my whole life and then retiring there, I was told empathy was a grotesque weakness my entire life. Every person who told me that was a conservative who could not experience empathy. Because I am able to experience empathy, their lies could not work on me. But the lies worked very well on my friends, neighbors and colleagues who could not experience empathy.

I have been nothing but kind and supportive of them my entire life, mostly because I didn’t want to blame them for their biological shortcomings. It’s not their fault they can’t experience empathy. But it is their fault that they choose to harm others and celebrate that harm. Their inability to feel guilt or empathy does not absolve them. They choose to be the very definition of evil.

I have never talked down to them. I have always been supportive and have used the Socratic method and genuine, patient curiosity to try to reach them. I mourn the loss of my friends anf family that I have disowned. No amount of patience and kindness has been effective in changing them from being a deadly threat to the vulnerable around them. Their choices result in concentration camps and the loss of human rights. And they still celebrate it.

Conservatives will never stop harming others on their own. No amount of patience or love can make them stop. This is the sad reality of conservatism. It is cancer. There is only one way to stop cancer.

I also agree on the point regarding education. But to be fair, I don’t consider a 20 year old a real conservative, simply because they barely understand themselves yet. A young person who is able to experience empathy will eventually find their empathy completely incompatible with conservatism. It is not possible to experience empathy for others and hold conservative views simultaneously. Conservative views fundamentally defy empathy. Education speeds up that realization for young people, which is why it looks like it “turns them” into normal people.

Many conservatives are college educated. The reason they didn’t change in college is because they couldn’t feel empathy in college, just as they cannot feel empathy after college.

I’m glad you were able to reach someone who identified as conservative. That’s not easy at all. I tried to change my conservative friends, family and colleagues for decades. Getting your friend to change is an exceptional accomplishment. If they are able to experience empathy, then I am sure their change will be permanent.

I cannot see the morality in standing by and watching conservatives kill innocent people and put folks in concentration camps. They are celebrating our deaths. They will eventually come for me and my family. What am I supposed to do?

If I had a way to escape with my family I would choose that first. But I don’t. So fighting is the only option I am left with. There’s not much I can do from inside a concentration camp. The most effective time to act is before then, while I can still accomplish something.

In my mind, the only two options are:

1. Continue to be a pacifist and watch them murder people in the streets and put people in concentration camps. Or…
2. Fight back while I still can.

Sorry I come off like a psycho. Maybe decades of being berated and told I am their enemy has contributed to my low opinion of conservatives.
