I really wanted to like bookwyrm and use it but it’s just so bare bones. Instead, I switched from goodreads to StoryGraph like two years ago. I really like some of its features like content warnings, moods, very detailed stats of my reading habits, etc.

I tried to get into terraria so many times, but this 2d perspective is just not doing it for me. For the same reasons, I don’t play metroidvanias and platformers. There are some platformer that I like, Gris, for example, but that’s not exactly the same. I have no problems with Core keeper or Stardew valley, so the genre is not the problem. I need to reconcile with it and accept that some games are just not for me.

I always hear about Shapiro, Peterson, Crawler (or whatever his name is), and their debates. Is there somebody on the other side? I don’t know about anyone.

I use Steam Chat for playing games with family and friends. It has better audio quality than discord in my opinion, and you can make groups (something like Discord servers) too. It doesn’t have all the functionality of servers, but the basic idea is there.

It’s not like the OP is concerned about privacy. They were using discord. They didn’t say it has to be open source.

For talking outside of gaming or away from PC, I use signal.

I am wondering if that would work for books. Most books are marketed as: best selling author brandon sanderson etc. So if a book doesn’t have an author on the cover, it would be hard to sell imo. For example, when I am looking for a book to read, I always check out the author and their other works.

Maybe it will be something like this: AI writer based on best selling author brandon sardersons.

But that is probably even worse than having no author on the cover.

My brother plays games on Windows. I tried to convert him to Linux like two times, but he doesn’t want to do it. He doesn’t even play multiplayer games. Just single-player and co-op games. So Anticheat wouldn’t be a problem. When I said to him that Steam is releasing their own Linux distro, he said: Sure, I will try that.

That was almost 3 years ago and there still isn’t official steamos for desktop.

Worm is definetly worth it imo. One of the best fantasy stories I have experienced. Either on TV or in book. It’s everybody’s cup of tea, because it is a fantasy in present day, where people have super powers. If you are into that you will probably like. Some people might compare it to marvel or dc, but I would say the only similarities are the there are superheroes. Worm is really dark, especialy later. People acually have interesting powers, instead of just variations on super strength or speed. When people fight there is often some cool implementation of their power.

Book is around 175 h long. I listened to it on 1.5 speed. It took me about 2 and half weeks. I can listen during my work, almost whole shift. I really take advantage of that. I go through 130+ books in a year.

Now for the sequel Ward, that I started recently. I dropped it like 2 weeks ago. I was maybe 45% in. Didnt like what the author did with one of my favorite characters from Worm. Maybe I will finish it later idk yet, story is very interesting too. Definetly still recommend Worm, even if you would not plan to read the sequel. Worm works as a standalone book and the ending has great conclusion.

Here is another recomendation for long series. Wandering Inn. Currently you can read it on author website. Or you can listen to audiobooks. That’s what I have been doing. Narrator is amazing imo. Some people say first book is rough. I really liked it either way. But author took the criticism and is making revised version of the first book. So maybe wait for that. Currently there is 13 books, each has around 1300 pages. The longest is second one. It has 1700 pages. Now, I’m waiting for the 14th. Start of the series is laid off, slice in life even. But later it turns into epic fantasy, with a ton of characters, politics, adventures etc. Author even started new spin off series with first book: Gravesong.

Just yestarday I started a book which is 9000 pages long. Ward by J.C. McCrae, it is sequel to Worm which has 7000 pages.

While i dont like intel, I hope they wont sack GPU division.

Okay, this didn’t discourage me at all. I am actually a little excited to start it now. You said that the main protagonist often takes time off and stuff like that, could Ward be described as “slice of life”?

I am a little disappointed that the dragon doesn’t have a bigger role.

I will have to go with audiobook version. I love books but I am a slow reader. When I read normal books or ebooks I finish like 20 per year. Three years ago I switched almost exclusively to audiobooks and now I am going through 130 plus books per year.

Reading ward would take me probably whole year. While listening to the audiobook, I would be done maybe in 3-4 weeks.

Do you know if there is more audiobook versions? I found only one.

Do you know what the original commenter meant by this being a trilogy? Is there something after ward?

Did you read other works of the author like Twig, Pact, Pale? Are they any good? And are they in any way related to parahumans?

In what way is it diffrent? Is it slower and has less action/fights? If that is the case then that is no problem for me. Is Panacea and Dragon there? Are they a side or main characters? I really liked them in Worm, and felt they were unutilized. What about those titans? I don’t remember exactly how it ended for them, but I think some of them should be still alive, like that angel lady. Are they a big part of the narrative?

There are 2 audiobooks for Worm. One is older, fan made. Where every chapter is narrated by diffrent person, mostly guys I think. I didn’t listen to this one. I like consistency. Second is new. Fanmade too. Finished last year. Narrated by a woman, which fits better when main character is a woman too. Only interludes are by diffrent narrators. This one is very good. The narrator isnt perfect, but better than some professionals I listened to. It is 170 h long. I finished it in less than 3 weeks.
