I learned that I was fundamentally not wired for hot weather when I lived in Australia for a while. It was then that I realised I had clearly been a penguin in a former life (which explained the walk).

Linux@lemmy.ml•First time - which distro is best for me?English
2·1 year agoI’d take a look at universal blue; Bazzite, Aurora or Bluefin. I use Bluefin and tailscale is built in (you just have to login to your setup). They’re atomic so they upgrade the whole image automatically (no faffing or bugging you) and apps are all flatpak. I get on great with it. Only caveat is it only supports relatively modern nvidia graphics cards. https://universal-blue.org/

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Does the fediverse really have a civility problem and what can we do about it?English
13·1 year ago100% agree. It’s a people thing rather than a site specific thing. Politics, for example in the social media arena attracts a certain combative behaviour from some who clearly feel passionately but who also feel that shouting down others is now the accepted norm rather than reasoned discussion though that’s mostly where we are everywhere now.

I use both Fedora atomic (using cosmic DE) and Universal Blue’s Bluefin so I’m largely just getting on and doing things as software is Flatpak, updates are automatic and I use Box Buddy as the gui for distrobox (installing other architecture software). After years of terminal use I have found this way of working very liberating but know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
