I see a lot of people saying “but that’s how creators get paid”
And they’re not wrong. But they put themselves in this position when they uploaded their videos to servers owned by one of the worst corporations in the world, with massive privacy implications, and no alternatives.
I watch them on other platforms when they make it available.
Just disable the ads, crypto and telemetry and suddenly none of those things are a problem anymore, just like Firefox.
I don’t understand what you’re saying
Why not both?
I think in reality the Chrome web browser is a huge threat to Internet freedom and should be a top priority.
You guys are fuckin weird, man
Mastodon currently comprises about 90% of Fediverse users so I’ll have to disagree on that one.
I mean we’re still a long long way from reaching mainstream status.
No I’ve got an Oculus Go. And it’s got bullshit Facebook spyware on it.
Nah I’m good. Not really that cool anyway after a few hours.
Maybe one day I’ll get a Valve Index.
I have to imagine they will strip it because if they don’t, it’ll be dead to all of their users.
Will I never picked it up again to find out.
I have one. Not long after I bought it, it became a brick because it forced a software update that forced a Facebook sign in to use it.
Agreed, you get to pick between a system that empowers you to do whatever you like, or an unborkable system.
Yeah that’s not true. There is no such thing as an “unborkable” system. There are, however, systems that aren’t often borked by their developers, and systems that are easy or intuitive to fix when they do become borked, or systems that quickly ship a fix when they do become “borked” (this is Windows BTW).
The implication that any “borked” Linux install was somehow self-inflicted by the user is ridiculous.
Nope, it doesn’t.
Yep…it does.
It’s either the user, the distro, package maintainer or upstream fucking up.
Yes that’s what I’m referring to.
Remember that Android is Linux-based
People keep saying this without understanding that Android was forked with several billion dollars in funding and aimed squarely at “normal” users, and had a decade of development since then.
Most “Linux” OSes really don’t bother with this. How many times has someone sent you into the Android terminal to fix a problem? Literally never. It doesn’t even exist without connecting a PC. Because you don’t need it.
I’m lazy so here’s lazy delicious veggie tip:
Get a rice cooker. Get rice and FROZEN pre-processed (chopped) veggies. These are still very inexpensive, require no preparation, last forever in the freezer, and are actually FRESHER than “fresh” veggies, since they are picked when ripe and then flash frozen rather than picked prematurely and sprayed with a ripening agent. Your rice cooker should come with a veggie tray so you can cook the rice and veggies simultaneously. Drop them in there and fire it up. Get yourself some “simmering sauce” and heat it up in a pan for ~15 minutes and baby you got a stew goin’.
