Look into NGINX Proxy manager and DuckDNS

I’m not Admiral Patrick of the former dubvee.org I just play along to waste the time of those who believe they are successfully harassing him.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Portainer 3.0 is coming, and here's what it means for you — PortainerEnglish
22·1 day agoPortainer has worked well for me but it has so much that I don’t need or use. It looks like Dockhand has a Home Assistant integration which is nice, so I’ll check that out thanks for the rec.
Same and same! I don’t think it’s fully sunk in for a lot of Linux die-hards the game changer that is immutability/flatpaks.

2·4 days agoYes but I recommend waiting until someone makes a version of Linux specifically for Bigscreen because it’s not really ready yet
It’s in the post. They wanted immutability:
“Unraid has always been a so-called immutable OS— however you modify your server, if you go in there, you type the wrong command, you delete all the files from your root, you still could just reboot and you’re back to the virgin release… and that’s a big reason why we’ve chosen Fedora [uCore].”
— Tom Mortensen, creator of Unraid

3·5 days agoNot running on a Pi yet, any spying would depend on the distro. There’s no dedicated Bigscreen distro yet but I’m pretty sure it’s being worked on.
I should say the data they send you has all the message text etc, so it’s fun to read through. You can keep it on your computer privately while scrambling what is on Reddit.

12·5 days agoThat’s true even the premium brands won’t halfway decent CPUs in them to keep the giant bloated menus from stuttering.
If you request your data they’ll give you the links to your old comments and there is software that can use the text file they send you to delete the old ones, fyi.
Also, be sure to scramble the text before you delete the comment/account.

48·5 days agoThere’s no best answer right now, Plasma Bigscreen is making good progress.
I have to imagine they’ll soon be putting cellular antennas in the TVs to circumvent all that anyway.

3·5 days agoI could never get those Android TV builds to work with CEC which kind of defeats the purpose for me. I’ll try it out with the next update. Librelec had no issues.

6·5 days agoI couldn’t find a working YouTube app on Kodi, nor any of the streaming sites (besides Disney plus oddly) nor Plex. It kinda felt like a real debrid frontend and graveyard of plugins.

52·8 days ago“Astroturfed” implies an appearance of a grassroots campaign, here the dev has connections to wealthy people who give him money, that’s really all there is to it.

21·8 days agoI think the dev just has connections and the people donating don’t understand what they’re giving to.

3·8 days agoYeah but even then, it’s an extremely niche distro and 99.9% of Linux users using a password manager service are using bitwarden/vaultwarden. It just doesn’t make sense.

10·8 days agoThat stood out to me too. It comes preinstalled with Omarchy so thats something but also Omarchy has like, a thousand daily active users so even that doesn’t sit right.
