Anytime! Let me know if there’s anything I can help with. :)

First step is to make sharing posts easier by integrating something like https://threadiverse.link/.
If I wanted to share your post with my friends, I’d send them the following link: https://piefed.ca/c/asklemmy/p/461864/what-should-we-be-doing-individually-to-increase-lemmy-s-userbase.
If my friends were also on Piedfed.ca, then all’s fine. But if they’re on a different instance and want to comment and/or vote on your post, then they’re fucked. They would have to go on their home instance, look for !asklemmy@lemmy.world, and then search for your post.
I say friend, but this applies to literally everyone here except those who are already on Piefed.ca.

No worries! And thank you for looking into this!

The Fediverse could improve how things are shared. If I wanted to share your post with a friend, I’ll give them this link: https://piefed.ca/c/asklemmy/p/424338/what-do-you-feel-the-fediverse-could-improve-on.
If they’re also on the same instance as me (Piefed.ca), then all’s good. But God forbid they’re on another instance and they want to comment or vote on your post. They would have to go back to their own instance, find this community, and then search for this specific post.
And I know some of you guys are itching to tell me about using a browser extension/script or another front-end to fix this, but this should be officially integrated with every front-end. I don’t understand why there still hasn’t been any integration with something like Threadiverse.
How can a social media grow if you can’t even share posts properly?

Ah, okay now this makes more sense. I misread and thought he was the owner of CD Projekt, and he got his own company to sell GOG to himself. Thanks for the clarification!

Can someone who’s more well versed in business explain what this means? From my understanding, nothing really changes as the owners of both GOG and CD Projekt is the same dude. But I’m sure there must be a reason why this was done.
Jumping between Boost and Summit.
Speaking of this, are there any PieFed users who have tried uploading images as a post through an app? Have you noticed that doing so counts toward your 50 MB upload quota, while uploading images on desktop does not count toward the quota?
It’s not the only difference. Here’s the list of differences from the devs. It’s just that for me, I like the UI better. But there are other reasons, including political reasons, why some people migrated to Piefed.
But once again, the beauty of the Fediverse allows you to choose. :) I think the biggest thing that should concern you is whether your instance frequently defederates from others, or if others defederate from your instance.
I used to be on Lemmy, but I prefer PieFed’s UI better. You can also set scheduled threads, which is pretty nice if you post things frequently. But whichever you choose, Lemmy and Piefed can interact with one another. And that’s the beauty of the Fediverse.

That is indeed true. Only issue I can see is the copycat community might not outgrow the older community. And I think people tend to gravitate towards the larger community if there are multiples of them. Especially newer users who won’t know of the power tripping mods and will just assume it’s an ordinary community. But let’s hope new users joining the Fediverse have better critical thinking skills and start asking questions if they see a community with a strong and active copycat community.

This can happen on the Fediverse as well, though. It might not happen at the same scale as on Reddit over here due to the public modlog, but mods can still ban people for no legitimate reason.
There are lots of other reasons why Reddit sucks. But mods power tripping isn’t unique to them. We have our own fair share of power tripping mods and community hoarders that migrated here from Reddit.

There’s a video of Kowloon Walled City from a university student (Suenn Ho) if anyone wants to see how it looks like from the inside. It’s incredible how people even managed to live there.

And by OFF, we mean actually off. The last thing I want is the game to push out a minor update 5 years after its last update, and all of the mods I have are now broken.
Yeah it started working a few hours after I signed up for an account. No idea why it took a while, but it’s all good now.

I agree. I don’t quite understand why this is even a debate. Just pick anything that looks neat and 99% of the time, it’s gonna work fine. That’s the beauty of Linux.
Okay, it works now. I waited a few more hours and now I’m sending this using Boost.
I’m able to login via my desktop. I tried using Interstellar and it doesn’t work. Could it be because my account is too new? I joined 3 hours ago.
Ah, bugger. I upload pics often so was hoping I can do it on mobile without using up my quota. Thanks for looking into this!
