Congrats! I am in a pretty similar situation. I just started the process to get HRT. In terms of clothing I just bought a few things I liked. The style I always liked on women and now I walk about as a semi alternative pastel sorta pastel goth. It’s great fun and I love it. One day I might share some pictures. No promises though.

In terms of make up I asked a while ago and pretty much it is self learn via the platform of choice. I also went into a store and checked who of the ladies working there wears make up I love / would want myself. Then I asked her for advice and what to buy. That has helped greatly.

Asylum means that you get refugee status, you do not have to be in a refugee home. It would however prevent the authorities from sending you back at any point. Because you are protected.

You had two avenues to leave 1. Apply for asylum in Germany or other European Union members.

I would not take Hungary or Poland at this time possibly others from the Balkan I am not too informed there. But Germany and the Baltic states are good. You could get asylum because you are trans and Russia is a threat to you. This path is difficult, and requires a lot of paperwork.

The less elegant version is you apply for a travel visa, take a few day vacation in the country and just don’t leave and claim refugee status. Nod advised because of the unknowns but it may work for you because you are trans.

2. Visa route Easier might be to apply for university or jobs (doesn’t matter what) in Germany, France, Spain or Baltic Countries. Once you have the visa for working or Study you can migrate over. Then you apply for a permit to stay.

In both cases in these countries should HRT be offered to you as basic health care need. You might have to pay for it you might not. But it should be possible to get it. It is difficult to give blanket advise and if you were to ask for a specific EU country it would be easier.

So overall I’d say Germany, Spain, Baltics are your best options.

Yes the report button is great and helps mods a lot, but the issue is that at the moment I don’t see any rule a comic would violate when it is as the op describes safe and relatable but made by an outspoken transphobe. The question seems to be do we need or want a rule against supporting transphobia indirectly by giving the artist free cloud. Because removing the artist name is a violation of the communities rules.

I would say don’t supply transphobes with free exposure and would option for the third option. Though checking and controlling for the political views of each artist may be too much work to put onto the mod team and would have to be on the poster.

Personally I am also biased against transphobes and would love it, if they would not be posted at all.

While sex is in it it was never the focus of it imho. I love the series but I do think ppl. do somewhat overstate the amount of sex that is happening. Sure it gets to be a tad bit more frequent in the later books but is not the main focus. The world building is amazing and the story is fantastic. So even if you are not too into the whole sex/romance stuff you ca enjoy the series.

There is nothing in the books itself that is anti trans (AFAIK and remember), it is that people equate her works with her political views which are anti trans. As a most likely trans person myself (still working out the details of it, stay tuned) I have a real struggle at my hands. On the one hand her books were a massive part of my childhood and early teens. I waited in line out side book stores to get the newest one. On the other hand she uses the money she gets from licenses and the IP to fund anti trans organisations. She also uses her fame / reach to spread TERF points of view. I enjoy and love the world she created back then but I cannot in good conscience consume anything that supports her now. Not any merch, series, film or game.

I on my ow may not make a difference but the sum is more than it parts. If enough ppl. start voicing their objection to her and her views, boycott the new stuff because of her, some change might be possible. If not, sacrificing something I loved growing up is an acceptable price to pay to keep me and others safe.

I also think if pop culture catch-up is a concern you could read Twilight and Eragon both were quite influential in my social circle at the time they were new. I have read both and I liked them too. I don’t think that they are revolutionary or the best pice of writing but they had arguably an impact.
