I’d been using linux for work for a couple years and it was going fine. I had a pretty crappy laptop at home with limited storage and I was constantly wrestling with Windows storing update stuff, installing adware during updates, etc.

I’d heard of proton and about how well it was going with it, so I had an idea linux gaming was possible.

Eventually something happened during a windows update that required I reinstall the OS and I just pulled out the flash drive I used to install linux on my work machine and tried it out. Eventually I did have to dual boot (on a bigger drive) for some games, but nowadays I’m all linux everywhere.

As far as I’m concerned, social democracy is center left. Maybe there’s a difference between European and NA perspectives. I live in a social democratic country and I have to say life is pretty good.

This is what I mean by that depiction of the spectrum not being reasonable. I don’t see how someone can say that on equal distance from the center you have social democracy and genocide.

As to what I’m doing about it, I’m not protesting or arguing with faceless text online. I don’t have the time, inclination, or energy for it. I have a lot of things to worry about that are a lot closer to me. Elections happened, and are coming up, and I’m gonna vote according to my interests which happen to include not supporting Israel.

Having said all that, I’m not even sure how disagreeing with killing innocent people and supplying weapons for killing innocent people is a political alignment factor. Shit’s crazy, what the fuck.

As far as I’m concerned, both the far left and the far right have completely insane dealbreaker things I never want to see happen (again). The reason I think I’m centrist is that there are ideas on both sides that are a lot tamer that I think could help us all live fulfilling, comfortable lives. When I think about compromising with either side, it’s about trading between these tamer ideas. I think it’s strategically worthwhile to not get everything you want from those tamer ideas immediately so you can at least get some of them.

Surely I won’t regret typing this out.

I bought Nobody Wants to Die, which is rated platinum on protondb, and it just crashes within 1 second of startup for me. 3h of fucking around with proton versions, launch arguments, even tried lutris, nothing. The only error I could see took me to a stackoverflow thread about vga to dvi adapter issues and the fix was not relevant. My protontricks is apparently also broken which I have no idea why or when it broke.

I got it refunded, it is what it is. I’ll look into fixing my protontricks when I have more time…

I just beat this guy. Walked in with a colossal hammer and pancaked him. Took two tries because the first time I didn’t realize he didn’t turn into the fat one, but it was a summon instead.

I don’t really have much advice, really. Run sideways towards him when he spams projectiles, dodge into the big projectile, ignore his summons since your big hammer will hit them too anyway.

It definitely shows some bosses we haven’t seen before, and the narration hints at what the story might be, or at least the surface level that represents this character’s narrative. For the most part, it’s a bit like watching the original release trailer.

I really believe that this has nothing to do with kids. “For the kids” has made me suspicious of intentions for a long time. It makes it difficult to argue against it because it implies that you’re a pedo or are doing something illegal otherwise. You implement general monitoring “for the kids”, and then you add some anti piracy stuff to it, then you add some hate group detection, some anti government group detection, etc. Now you have everything you need to get ahead of any danger to the government. If the people can’t organize, you can do whatever you want.

IMO sitting at my desk, watching logs or waiting for something to come in isn’t living my life. I can’t do my hobbies, I can’t play video games, drink a beer, watch a movie, hang out with my friends, etc. Browsing lemmy or youtube isn’t exactly living my life.
