I’ve literally never wished death on anyone at all, ever. Nor have I ever dog whistled for racists. But i have definitely dog whistled for hypocrites. Sorry that your ears perked up.

If you wanted to understand my comment, you could. And if you just want to be outraged over something I never meant then carry on, but I have no interest in playing a part in your self righteous fantasy.

What, you annoyed because I interrupted the circle jerk with a different opinion? Do you actually think it would be more fun or intellectually stimulating if I dropped a standard response like the rest of these bots? Most threads are so boring, the same opinions repeated throughout the thread but trying to one up each other in how hard they agree, craving the validation they get from a few up clicks. What a miserable and boring existence. Sounds like this conversation has run it’s course though, so i will leave you to it.

That’s because it’s lemmy, almost entirely progressives. The populists on the conservative side making bad policy are slashing funding with little regard for long term impact that’s just as harmful as the populist leftist approaches, you just don’t see me having those conversations here because nobody on lemmy is advocating for it. I think policy should encourage competition and that’s about it. At least in regards to economic issues. The market can sort these things out if it is allowed to work, as long as there is healthy competition.

Well you won’t find me defending corporate welfare.

Monetary policy is only one possible factor for driving inflation. High demand and cost of goods and services are other major factors, which Mamdani definitely has influence over. Also anyone can balance a budget for the short term. That’s my whole point, that these short term policies are popular, but devastating in the long term if you don’t actually know what you are doing.

Whattabout Congress? Yes, they are also woefully lacking in economics qualifications. That’s how we are in a perpetual cycle of increasing entitlements driving inflation in the first place. But then Mamdani kicking the inflation machine into high gear while trying to control prices can only end in economic disaster.

It’s his degree and it has nothing to do with economics. My point is that he has no formal education in economics.

One of those is accountable to the actual value of goods, and the other is not.

Fair enough, I guess that’s just the one i hear about, and it’s obvious to me that it will fail. Maybe other policies are legit.

If you intentionally misunderstood my point in order to make it about race, that’s on you.

He got a degree in Africana studies. I’m sure you understand being skeptical of his knowledge on economics… his policies are popular, but that’s not at all the same as being good in the long term. I guess time will tell.

Tbh a ton of people across the political spectrum agree with that statement. Unfortunately the only tool dsa seems to bring is price controls, basically trading corporations for a completely inept and unaccountable government body. It’s a short term solution with populists blundering around implementing controls over stuff they don’t understand. Why would we trust these politicians to make economic decisions that have huge impact, despite a complete lack of qualifications?

Maybe, but vehicle ownership in the United States is way higher per capita. Something like 17 of households in China versus almost 90 in the United States. That could change with the availability and cost of electric vehicles, but as of now it’s still pretty skewed.

You think workers have better quality of life in China?

Yes, and don’t forget low pay and long hours for their workers.
If you see everything through the lens of racism, then we can’t even have a conversation because I’m not talking about anything race related at all. Race is literally irrelevant to my point.
