Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•18 speed cameras just went up in Oakland, California. The cameras will ticket drivers that exceed the speed limit by 11 miles an hour or more.English
8·6 months agoThe money from these camera tickets must go to improving road safety. And the city must not decrease the amount of money they put towards road safety either.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Is DeleteMe.org real? Looks too good to not be a data stealing scam.
13·7 months agoThey are discontinuing the service January 15, 2026.
Doesnt seem to. Seems to just be the website, and a way to add new cameras.

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Highway 1 through Big Sur to reopen after years of workEnglish
3·9 months agoI feel bad for the people that live / work there. Having to go all the way around is a terrible thing. Really it should be turned into some type of toll road, while exempting residents and local businesses. There is no reason except for tourism for highway 1 to be so popular. 101 is a perfectly good road to drive on.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If You Have Choice then Which part would you choose to be born in?
3·11 months agoYep, I would be a whale.
They actually made it cost less for them. They can either pay the $9 each day or choose $1.50 for each trip (passenger pickup/dropoff) they make within the zone
$9 for cars, no matter if you go one block in or all the way through. And no daily charge for staying there multiple days, only charged when you enter.

That makes sense on freeways/ large roads, but I even hear it in parking lots, or when they’re idiling. If a bicycle can safely ride there, then a motorcycle doesn’t need to rev.
