Real maple syrup – especially the “dark” grade – has a distinct and unique taste. I have tried other tree syrups and they each have a distinct flavour, but maple is my favourite. In Canada it is often sold in cans that are filled directly by the producers. Anything in a bottle is produced in a centralized factory that mixes bulk syrup with no regard for its grade, and cut with cheaper sugars.
