i was agreeing with your criticism somewhat. Looks like they changed their post though.
Seemed like they went so hard there. A bit much.

Thanks. I do not prefer pineapple on pizza.
It is indeed possible to criticize a thing without engaging in yum-yucking.

I’d argue that there is appetite and that those skills have not been lost forever and while there are those that would have use only play and consume, to assume that this is the only thing happening is a bit of a reductio ad absurdum.

Guess I need to re-read my shit. Lol.

That’s so disappointing. I loved their games. 🥺

Thanks, I’ve shared this around.

For me, the cost benefit is about entertainment. I recognize there have been studies that supposedly show that games can help develop or maintain certain skills, but for me it’s more about learning the skill to experience the in-game reward. That’s just for some games. For others, that element exists but the game is telling a story too. One that is punctuated by struggle, maybe battles, and the overcoming which leads to power ups and more story.
So the cost-benefit is that it costs time, but it pulls you out of end-stage capitalism and puts you in flow state, engaging in another world.
I would suspect, though, that if you’re seeing video games through the lens of cost-benefit analysis, you might have trouble relaxing. People need rest.

I’ve used cool reader for Android and a little for win and Linux. Probably worth a try

This is the same as what they trying to do in the US with draconian abortion laws. You can’t convince a person to bring a child into a life of suffering and want. You have to do the hard work of making the environment one that children can thrive in.
Lacking that, you don’t get to have a birthrate over 1:1.
Simple as.
I can agree with you on the quality of FB only contacts. For me it was all people that I don’t think about at all now, save for one or two.
Given how some people are full adults and have been using it their whole life, that line is a little like saying “if you don’t like the United States then just move to another country”. They have ties there and for many of the people they know, it’s their only way to keep in touch.
That said, I left Facebook after the Cambridge analytica stuff started surfacing. There are people I’ll never hear from again. I don’t think everyone is okay with that choice. Obviously it not a just choice to have to make.

Couldn’t we just buy stuff from stores and then return them after using them once?

We should and could, but I feel like we’d have to fight the system pretty hard and have some huge numbers.
Not that I’m saying that it isn’t worth pursuing, it definitely is. It’s just to say that there will definitely be some obstacles.
It seems like a worthy fight.

You piqued my curiosity so I’m going to show you what I found

Thanks for the reply. I did indeed pass TF out, but will look for it later today after the seasonal festivities.

Will take a look tonight if I don’t pass TF out. 🤒

Very happy for her, also equally curious whether that sort of judgment follows one around.
Dude needs to read some John Stuart Mill for some pointers on succinctness.
