Lmao way to turn that on me, good one. I’m literally talking about the people who can’t just scroll past or block something without needing to act like it was forced on them. The people who campaign to cancel Netflix over 1 show out of 1000s that they could’ve just scrolled past. The people who live in an era where you can follow exactly what you want online, and watch and listen to exactly what you want on streaming, but still complain about having the wOkE aGeNdA shoved down their throats because they’re incapable of wiping their asses (or they think it’s gay).

Trust me, I’m not the one with the problem of inserting my business everywhere that I don’t belong. I’m not going anywhere near incel forums, or manosphere support groups, or to tell people how fucking stupid their hobbies are. And knowing these people, I’d get banned quickly if I did because they’re the biggest pearl clutchers of all. This problem is entirely one sided and caused by certain types of people who are more emboldened than ever these days.

Personally I think that this Reddit style is an upgrade design wise. And as far as recognising people goes, I’m using an app that lets you tag users (Summit) and this has gone quite a long way. It’s also made the start paying attention to other usernames to an extent, so if I notice that someone often posts content that vibes with me or whatever, I can give them a ⭐ or something.

What I do miss from the days when forums were dominant is that people stayed in their lanes a little more. A particular forum or board or even thread is for a particular topic, and people who derailed or came along just to insult and shit on everything were dealt with, without this crying about ‘free speech’.

Current day social media has spawned a bunch of people who feel entitled to say whatever they want to whoever they want in any space they want, and cry about blue haired SJWs or something if there’s consequences. And they act like the internet used to be this place where forum moderators didn’t rule with an iron fist, or like the ‘real world’ is somewhere that you can behave this way without being punched in the face.

I just think a lot of problems could be solved if jocks went back to discussing sportsball and cars and stayed in their lanes, instead of considering themselves to be experts on biology and sociology and vaccines. There’s a fine line between ‘free speech’ and letting the inmates run the asylum, and the last 10 years have proven that.

Basically what I miss from the forum days is that back then, the conspiracy theorist idiots would’ve probably been banned, and would’ve stayed in the fringes of society instead of going mainstream.

Yeah I saw someone say that they’re a nurse who deals with dementia patients and that people with dementia are basically putty in the hands of anyone with a vibe of kindness or empathy.

Yeah I was just coming to say as well, the biggest issue with this is mods.

And in games like Stardew Valley, the other issue is the game seed. If you keep using the same save, a lot of the same ‘random’ events will occur.

To be cliche, probably the Bethesda style character creation, just because you can tweak so much. That’s probably the best I’ve got because my current laptop is a potato and Skyrim is about the most intensive that it can (barely) handle.

A huge issue I have with it though, is that after all that tweaking and fine tuning of your character, you can’t save or load templates. So sometimes I’ll spend ages creating a character, start the same and play for a bit, then for whatever reason decide to start again an hour later (regrettable choice, a faulty mod etc.), and now I have to create a character all over again. At that point I just choose basics and hit play.

This is an annoyance to me in all games with character creation though. Even something simpler like Stardew Valley, especially if you’re trying to get the colours just right.

If you’re going to give us the ability to create and fine tune personalized characters, let us save and load them, god damnit.

Yeah South Africa is unfortunately generally socially conservative. And susceptible to magaland conspiracies. And I hate to sound like I have one issue but very patriarchal, whether you’re Afrikaner or Zulu. So I’d say knee deep in the manosphere shit too, which goes hand in hand with magaland conspiracies anyway.

One example of the gender divide is currently for the month of November, a group called ‘Women for Change’ are running a social media campaign where people are changing their profile pics purple, and are planning a general strike in about a week, to draw attention to the fact that a woman is buried in South Africa every 2.5 hours, and that rape and femicide are a plague in this country. Seriously, from babies to 99 year old women, none are safe.

And so of course, certain men responded to this by starting their own bullshit where they’re changing their profile pictures green. At first I thought it had maybe something to do with farm murders and men trying to play the victim olympics but it’s even scummier and lower than that. They changed their profile pictures green to cry that they’re “ATMs” for women. I dunno, I just think that’s kinda fucking despicable.

In fairness, there are (usually white) conservative women in magaland too. But I’m not going to beat around the bush when I say that you don’t need a magnifying glass to see how lobsided the demographics are in this regard.

I mean, considering that this is a successful meme on two different platforms and that there are multiple comments giving their own examples, I would assume that it’s a behaviour that a lot of people come across, regardless of your personal experience.

Imagine thinking you’re being ‘replaced’ by 153 people. Almost as ludicrous as believing they’re putting microchips into vaccines, which South Africans are all over too. It’s honestly embarrassing.

Also, I’m starting to think that a large amount of online trolls that spend their days attacking feminist and queer pages on mainstream social media are god damn fkn white South Africans. I’ve already seen people mention that they are some of the worst of the worst on Twitter.

Depends on a few things, including the viewpoint in question.

And my patience at a particular time because I’m not 18 and just discovering the world anymore and a lot of shit is the same old shit, even if it’s had a ribbon tied around it.

Some things that I’m more or less out of patience with are bigotry, right wing conservative conformists and supremacists, and monotheism. But I’m open to discussing most other things.

I’d be more inclined to ‘meet in the middle’ politically if ‘politics’ were about say how taxes should be spent, and not about who should have more or less human rights than who.

I think that not necessarily everything in life is a big buddhist style learning moment and sometimes we really do just dig our own holes. And I mean, there’s nothing to say that the person in this simplistic cartoon strip didn’t learn anything here. Maybe sometimes the lesson is just that if you touch the hot plate on a stove, you’ll get burnt.

Other bigger lessons in life probably look a bit different to this.

I had this same issue and just tried force killing the app in settings, then clearing the cache. After that, my PieFed account is now working again. Hopefully it helps you.

Alright I’m not sure if I missed a sneaky update in the mean time, but I suddenly had the thought to try clearing the cache in app info (after killing the app first), then try again. And now I’ve been successfully able to log in with my PieFed account and everything is loading again. I’m suggest to the other user to try the same.

I think this is more important to address than representation for a kink. It states “non-consensual strangulation” anyway and if that’s your kink, then uh, you’re probably in the wrong community for one thing. Also it’s practically a stereotype and joke now that whenever the dark side of porn is brought up, people rush in defend “kinks”.

It’s pretty fucking weird that we go after cigarettes and gambling and loot boxes in video games, but easy access to porn doom scrolling for all ages on the devices in our pockets is the last thing that anyone wants to address. I think that it can help you find your people. If it’s something really mainstream like Breaking Bad or whatever, you might as say “I like icecream”. But when it gets to slightly more niche stuff that isn’t hogging 90% of the online conversation or airtime on the radio, I think you’re more likely to find people with similar interests or views or personalities to you.
