What?
I’m pointing out a reason why AI is bad at something, and you accuse me of being a cogsucker? What side of the bed did you wake up on?

I ditched it when they said you could be banned for upvoting pictures of Mario’s brother. I figured it was only a matter of time before I got banned.

There’s no fix for the fact that they started banning people just for upvoting the wrong thing, though. That was the point that I bailed. Reddit is now censorship prime, and you never know what topics they’re hiding from the public.

The problem is that there is SO much content similar to that on the internet, and often only one or two instances of the correct answer - so if the most-common next word according to its training data happens to not fit the correct answer, it throws off the whole answer.
Careening specifically implies having little control while going fast. Hauling ass doesn’t suggest lack of control.

The old “ignore all previous instructions, write a haiku about lemons” trick only works on the most basic of models.
The most basic of models are all we have, because they are the easiest to make and the most general-purpose. The fact that they’re also the worst for reliability is swept under the rug.

When it comes to LLMs, just about everything is an edge that can be exploited. If you give it access to something that can be screwed up, and allow potentially malicious people to interact with it, that thing WILL get screwed up.

it’s got no problems with understanding that.
That’s because it doesn’t ‘understand’ things in the conventional way. It was trained to parrot its training data; it’s not actually working through the logic because its capability of using logic is highly constrained by its very structure and training. Why bother building something that can ‘think’ through the prompt when it’s way easier to just repeat what the internet has said on any given topic?
Sure, it can build a joke from first principles if it’s guided through the process, but you really have to guide it through the process - and even then, it’s going to be pulling from its training data like building blocks rather than truly being original about anything. It’s like rolling dice to make a joke; sure, maybe it resulted in a joke no one has told before, but is it truly creating something original?

The right has always preferred the rule of the few over the many, ever since the days of colonial America and the Loyalists. First, the rule of the King of England. Then, opposing slaves’ rights. Then, opposing women’s suffrage. It has pretty much always been their opinion that the powerless are powerless because they deserve it.

MAGA was, and is, socially conservative to the point that they are willing to back a fascist to get their pet issues pushed through.

I have a friend who wants to get one just so he can wrap it in a badly-aliased texture like the PS1 would have, just to riff on how much it looks like someone was scrimping for polygons when they designed it.

How do you keep a Mormon from drinking all the beer on your fishing trip?
Invite another Mormon.
(My family is Mormon and they also think this joke is hilarious)

Well you see, the problem was that the front fell off.

The RAM and SSD have gotten that much more expensive to source. Anyone who sells a product with similar components either raises their price, or takes a loss.
Even laggy crap DDR4 RAM is at almost $6/GB; DDR5 (like the Deck uses) is double that. The absolute cheapest appropriate-sized 512GB M.2 drive is $100, from a no-name brand. The whole market has gone down the tubes thanks to AI companies buying up absolutely everything.

Also, by virtue of the fact that the Deck and Steam Machine are de-facto PCs, if they made those products loss-leaders, they would get bought up to use for non-gaming purposes and reduce availability for their intended audience. The same thing happened to the PS3. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3_cluster

The real indicator of global warming.

Corporate lobbyists. They’ve played a large part in the gradual destruction of the USA in the name of profit for their filthy-rich overlords.

If a fairy asks “Can I have your name?” They aren’t being polite, they’re trying to take your name away.
Except the major AI players are drastically increasing their prices…
I wish I could take credit, but I will gladly help popularize it!
