Also, I don’t know about you (or OP) but I certainly don’t PLAN my video game time days or weeks in advance. Maybe this is just my interpretation, but I think that first panel can be read as “Oh good, I have some unexpected time on my hands. Moght as well play video games” but I think your interpretation is closer to “Finally, I’ve been waiting for this moment for ages”
