It’s security theater and nothing more. They can make as many rules as they want to, but it’s not easy to enforce unless you have someone there observing at all times. Putting the signs there shifts all responsibility off everyone except the individual

The fact that we have to make “wash your hands after using the bathroom” mandatory with signs in every single bathroom kinda explains how COVID spread so fast to begin with.
These days it’s FAFO. I used to work with someone and he would shoehorn that into conversations completely unprovoked…like he itching to find any excuse to shoot someone

Just Post@lemmy.world•Unofficial straw poll for USians: who is staying up tonight to watch the bloodbath and who is going to bed and hoping you don’t learn that fascism won in the morning?
10·1 year agoI want to try to go to sleep but I know I won’t be able to, and I’ll wake up in the middle of the night even if I pop an ambien. I tried to keep a good mood today but then my mom had to blurt out that the orange turd already took 2 states while Harris has 1 and now my mind is a wreck
I never gave a shit about a presidential election up until 2016 when I figured Clinton would coast in. Then I made sure to be involved in every election since then, minor and major, voting pure blue. 2020 was still a little scary, but nowhere near as terrifying as this one

Am I missing anything here?

10·1 year agoThe US is terrible with labor laws, by design. It’s absurd, especially immediately after civic when all these"essential workers" were called “heroes” but weren’t compensated as such. And when nobody was applying for jobs that were paid trash and got shit on by management and customers should the only reaction was “nobody wants to work anymore”.
No, people wanna work. They just don’t want to be paid minimum wage for skilled positions and spend half the day being berated

21·1 year agoWhen I lived in South GA, and we were expecting snow for the first time in 5 years, I begged bosses to let us go before it got there. I lived less than 10 minutes from work and used to live in Michigan…but we know what to expect. They said things will be fine.
Accidents galore
True story. Not only is that miserable twat mtg spewing it on social media, but Friday a cousin of mine was taking about it when we went out for beers. That it was intentional so they could clear out certain areas for lithium mining
I’ve been using librewolf for a several months. Be careful because streaming doesn’t always work on it due to DRM features, and YouTube has been spotty AF. With YouTube it might start the video a couple seconds into it, buffer for no discernable reason, or just skip a few random seconds.

World News@lemmy.world•A global housing crisis is suffocating the middle classEnglish
91·1 year agoA bunch of people complaining about a show they clearly never watched.
He barely supported a family of 4 on that pay. Especially the early seasons make running gags that they’re all on the brink of starvation as in fighting over an m&m they found in the kitchen to a tiny scrap of food elsewhere in the house, and skipping out on checks if they are out. Marcy had often complained the Bundy household was an eyesore for the neighborhood and was dilapidated. Plus his Dodge which was in constant disrepair, and was so old the odometer had rolled over from 999,999. Even more running gags about how Al only owns 3 pairs of underwear, all his socks are falling apart and have holes in them, and his generap wardrobe is cheap and out of date even for the time period. Al and Bud are often looking for some kind of side hustle while Kelly likely gets a lot of stuff bought for her from all the guys she dates.
But let’s not forget an the important fact…it’s a fictitious TV show made for the purposes of entertainment about a lower class family and anyone who tries to use it as examples of affordability or someone living beyond their means should have lost all credibility to their argument.

World News@lemmy.world•A global housing crisis is suffocating the middle classEnglish
4·1 year agoI’m in the middle of relocating to Ohio. I sold my house in GA and despite getting mildly fucked by the “they’re first time homeowners” BS I still have about $130,000 profit from the sale. 100k of that has to go into the down payment just so I can afford anything over 200k.
My initial budget was about 310,000 but I had to bump it up to 350 just to find something that isn’t a poorly maintained shit hole that would require 50k just to make it decent again, and to have more than 1.5 bathrooms.
And this is on top of all the houses bought by people who watched a a season of Flippers, and thought it they put shittier grey vinyl on the floor they could net 100k.

Technology@lemmy.world•New Email Scam Includes Pictures of Your House. Don’t Fall For It.English
5·1 year agoI got one a couple years ago that included an old password I had used to use. It was sent to my work email but because it had that info in it I did legit get scared…until it said it recorded me jerking it over my webcam. I don’t have a webcam.
I found out at least 2 other coworkers got similar emails so me thinks a shitty work vendor got hacked

You would think so. But I’ve been at a small local cafe and watched a guy from the kitchen walk into and out of the bathroom still wearing the same blue nitrile gloves. Immediately noped out and left because that’s just fucking gross
