Amateur’s etymology is “amator” meaning lover. It’s ok to be an amateur. It shows you’re enjoying yourself and interested. You don’t need to be the best, just do what is fun to you. Life’s too short to be a jack of all trades professional.

You know they aren’t forcing you to use the bundled stuff, right?
I paid $830/month for a moderately priced car at only 2.9% for a few years. 1/3 my current yearly salary in full. It wasn’t smart, but I beat inflation at that rate. That car let me and my wife travel so much in our early marriage and it was so worth it. The car is more expensive now then when I bought it.
I love that car and it brought me joy. It’s paid off now.
Tomorrow is not promised. Save for the future but don’t neglect being happy today. Go live a little.
In FFXIV, most multi people mounts are paid for, but they did have an event where they have one that can hold 4 people. There is a paid mount that holds 8 people, and it’s a whale. It’s the most expensive mount at just $42. There is no reason you should want to carry 8 people because everyone should have a mount.
Yep! I did it for a final project, called DANK WEB. We implemented an airhorn counter. We found out the day before that it just stored the value it saw +1 to the DB so a bad actor could reset the count. Then we easily figured out that we could just reference the DB so we fixed the bad actor part.
We got a 98 on the final. It was the most fun I had on a project in all of college.
The cars used to have RADAR. But they got rid of that and even disabled it on older models when updating because they “only need cameras.”
Cameras and RADAR would have been good enough for most all conditions…
I’m curious so let’s explore this. Say someone in a rural area needs to drive 10 mins down the road a day and 10 mins back. Let’s say you employ one person for just 12 hours at federal minimum wage. That’s $609/week PLUS maintenance and gas on the bus. If someone owned their car/truck and paid maybe $2.50/gal with a 15mpg car, that would only be like $1.70 a day for them. (30mph20min/15mpg$2.5/gal*7(days)=$11.67). That community would only need 60 people taking the exact same path as the bus to make it worth it for them.
I’m all for public transit. I take it to work a few times a week and even when doing leisure, but it’s not a replacement for extra-suburb transit.
I used to have my car commands (AC, location, seat heaters, etc) on a shortcut. It was stacked shortcuts calling APIs and passing tokens and storing these for later use to reuse the same token.
I watch embedded videos all the time. Literally hundreds this weekend. Embedded is not “de facto blocked”.
Do you have a source for the “even when your device is supposedly off” part? I know iPhones have tracking enabled when off, but there’s no way they’re using Bluetooth to find these devices and reporting back. I can’t find a source for that at all.
But even then, it’s still pretty private because there’s no way to reverse track an AirTag. I don’t even think they can do that internally at Apple.
If you are the only one playing the PlayStation, you can do remote play via the computer, phone ,or even from a PS4.
You were $100 off.
I remember when I was in college running a hackintosh. I was at the end of the hall and had awful Wi-Fi reception, so I just had my desktop emitting Wi-Fi for me and my dorm mate. I pirated some stuff but never seeded. I told my roommate about pirating and whatnot and showed him how to pirate Parks and Recreation. He didn’t turn off seeding. The university banned my MAC address, but luckily I could spoof one and have internet. He had to go to the dean and tell him he was sorry and that he won’t do it again to get my hardware MAC banned so I didn’t have to change it every time I booted up.
The fact that it was so simple for me to get around this ban was hilarious.
Exactly. I fuck with software and device issues all day at work. I don’t want my free time to always be fucking with my phone. I was jailbroken for so long back in the day but it’s just a hassle now when I just want to go home and relax.
Exactly. I just click a button on my laptop and it pairs. Start playing a video on my phone? It instantly jumps to my phone. No lag, no pairing waiting. Didn’t want that? Click the “connect” button on the laptop bc it just noticed that it jumped to my phone. My Apple TV notices when the AirPods are around. Did I ever have to pair them to the Apple TV? No! They’re connected to my account and can see the other devices easily.
This is really cool! I just applied. I live in a moderate sized city, so I do walk a bit. I hope to help you out on the iOS side of things since lemmy is very android heavy.
I really think this will motivate me to walk more, as I really only walk to work and the store when necessary.
Right before I left my last job, we were looking at using Flutter to dual deploy our app so I’m excited to see it in use by an indie dev!
Same with crows.
Sorry, unrelated, but my Lemmy client says that you have “-1” downvotes and 49 upvotes. How is that even possible? It should only be a positive integer. On the web client, it shows nothing for downvotes, but says 48 upvotes instead of 49…
Maybe I’m just lucky in where I am in a FAANG company, because I’ve only been offered mobility in my job, even directly after a promotion! We encourage work across the organization, but we have like 500 devs in this org.
Once I moved to a blue city in a blue state, I realized how much freedom I actually have now. Being able to walk to bars/breweries and not be car dependent, but still have the option if I need it, being able to take my dog into restaurants as long as she’s well behaved, being able to lay in the park in the summer while drinking a beer or being high, hiking on substances… the list goes on.
