61·2 months agoIt really worked so well for the US killing the leader of Iran. Basically won them the war in one stroke. /s
We have an obvious and pertinent example of a decapitation strike on political leadership not being a particularly good strategy from a military standpoint. Iran seems to be conducting itself much in a much less emotionally reactive way than this, so I doubt we’ll see it unless they really are falling apart internally and are just trying to lash out in revenge on their way down.

World News@lemmy.world•'Russian bombers are burning en masse' — Ukraine's SBU drones hit 'more than 40' aircraft in mass attack, source claimsEnglish
35·1 year agoIn the air they are highly survivable long range bomb trucks, that all these ones had to be destroyed in drone attacks on the ground is kind of evidence of that.
The US has used its strategic bombing forces for non nuclear attacks extensively as well, including known use of the B2 against the Houthis and B52 against IS in Syria.
I’ve had a lot of wildlife encounters, including bears, wolves and moose, but seeing a wolverine is the only time I’ve ever removed the safety from my bear spray, and one of the few times I’ve started to psych myself up mentally to fight an animal.
Luckily it was pretty much a non story, I was hiking up a forest service road in western Montana on the Pacific Northwest Trail, and heard a noise behind me. I turned to see what looked like a 4ft tall badger trundle out of the bush about 40 feet back. It kinda stood or sat up on its back legs and we locked eyes for moment as I drew and readied bear spray. The moment passed and it slumped back to all fours and just ambled away down the forest service road away from me.

But yeah, I think I agree. if tariffs hit particularly hard it could definitely still go up, given how sweeping the proposed tariffs are and that shipping itself is probably going to get more expensive as a result. Probably everything is going to get more expensive.

5·2 years agoTariff uncertainty has been in the air since the US election, it’d be wild for them to not atleast consider it in their pricing decisions.

They’ve definitely had some missteps for me recently, like the post malone event a couple tears ago was pretty egregious, and the ghost face skin is very silly, but I feel like most of the other recent updates and events have really kept it feeling fresh to me.
I’d be interested to hear you expound more on those if ya wanna.
