I hear this. Losing my father was harder than I expected. It kicked me in the ass enough to commit to calling my mom once a week. Thankful that I’ve done it and I’m sure I will be even more when her time comes. Sharing in case something similar makes sense for you. Cherish them while you have them.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•On what specific episode does your favorite "I swear it eventually gets really good" television show actually start turning around?
10·2 months agoThe Venezuela sister city episode season 2 episode 5 is where it showed its true potential.
The humor lands, the characters have some consistency, and the vibe is consistent with the rest of the show. Yes, it was firing on all cylinders with Ben and Chris, but this episode is where it showed its stuff.
If you disagree, right to jail. Right away. No trial, no nothing. I have the best opinion… because of jail.

My company is trying to replace HR with AI bots for employee things like missed time punches and requesting bereavement, accommodations, etc.
It’s failing because the executives forgot that the average employee has low reading comprehension and can’t follow 2-3 paragraphs of instructions without someone to help in person.

12·2 months agoMy wife!
She’s like the second half (better half) of my soul, she makes me feel whole, fulfilled, and complete just being around her. We can talk for hours about everything and nothing, and I have the most joy in life when I’m around her.
She is everything to me and I’m so lucky to have met her!

2·4 months agoOh I know. But truth and words matter. We cannot let them control the narrative, and we cannot let the less educated have it in their head that an emergency is all it takes. We have to hold the line.

7·7 months agoI get that, but I don’t even mean it in that sense. A corporation should not have any control over what I do whatsoever unless I’m their employee.

Technology@lemmy.world•UK to “encourage” Apple and Google to put nudity-blocking systems on phonesEnglish
621·7 months agoEven if you’re morally opposed to the various things this addresses, it is so immensely concerning and unwise to want a corporation to have this much control over your actions, daily life, and liberty.
I don’t think enough people talk about that.

I have a playlist ready, lots already mentioned here. Don’t forget FDT. I blast this often around magas.
I will also be blasting Ding Dong the Witch is Dead.
