I’m genuinely curious what benefits jailbreaking one gives. I’ve had a Paperwhite for over 5 years and I’ve never purchased a single book for it. All I need is a local collection of .epubs and Calibre and I’m away. I keep the Wi-Fi off constantly and have never signed into it once.

Not quite, I’m a software engineer that was literally a support technician before this role and I’m the go-to tech support person for my friends. Most of the complexity is on the hosts end ~ https://tailscale.com/docs/features/tailscale-funnel

But tailscale gets around that by creating a secure external tunnel that allows others to connect to your inside from anywhere in the world?

But when you want to give access to others outside of your network they need to subscribe to a plan to get a watch pass. That’s the main issue a lot of people are facing.

This man gets it 👆

Because emotional maturity requires being comfortable sitting with yourself and your thoughts without any noise. A surprising amount of people can’t cope with the lack of noise.

This is the thing that gets me. It’s kind of a double edged sword using an underground community like Lemmy. I still use Reddit for nsfw (God bless red reader) because the normie girls haven’t migrated over here yet. There is such a mature community of self posting NSFW content that I haven’t found anywhere else on the Internet like it tbh.

This law was originally implemented within New Zealand some years ago and I believe it is based on the same principles. I am all for it because it doesn’t affect those that already smoke, just the ones that would potentially get into it in the future. And it has a rolling eligibility year so every year it will move, stopping all future generations from potentially being able to try it legally. Eventually it would get to the point where the generations that currently smoke die off completely and then it would be most likely looked at from an antiquated perspective. Unfortunately, in our case, as soon as the latest conservative parliament got into power, they completely rolled it back. We never got to see the long term potential positive implications of it in practice.

784 grams is wiiild :o

My organization pays over $200,000 a year for Adobe products :( I swear most of it is just for the ability to edit PDFs
I’ve been doing a bit more research and it looks like the way to go is jellyfin + a cloudflare DNS tunnel. Also there appears to be a native jellyfin app on most Android TVs available. So, no, VPN or a web browser is not required at all
