Not currently but at the end of 2024 I binge watched Lioness, that’s some good boomer CIA operator slop. Felt very similar to the Sicario films. I think the 2nd season had something about Mexican drug cartels smuggling in Iranian sleeper agents as suicide bombers, but the protagonists inferred based on no evidence that obviously the Chinese were behind it! … hey don’t look at me like that, you asked for slop.

I like to cut it into thin triangular pieces, dust those with cornstarch and fry them, then add barbecue sauce and whatever other seasonings towards the end. Ground cumin goes a long way here so a little of that on it’s own or in some kind of Indian curry mix is a good starting point. Obviously this will be somewhat sugary so decide if that works for you.

I think this is the right reaction. I’m not really a hater, more of a passive disliker. But, and feel free to disagree, he’s got that shit on.

I can’t really say because I haven’t run into this much yet. I will say that with the Diddy stuff the way it seemed to nearly instantly turn into a punchline really sanitized the criminality of it. And going back to an older example the way p***-bear was a running gag on 4chan was bigly normalizing.

Edit: A couple months back I saw a cool video about the food systems of the eastern Indians that they grew before the maize-beans-squash crop system became dominant. Many of these plants still grow wild today and would be familiar to people just a few decades ago but are becoming rarer because of the loss of field strips, fallow areas, etc., and the overuse of herbicides. Allowing these plants to run rampant and rewild our natural lands would be a priority.

I think about this once in a while because, well it’s not getting any better, and the framing seems to stick. The patriarchal subtext that women need to lower their standards and subjugate themselves is pretty obvious. But I also think there is the corollary message to men that they don’t need to self reflect or evolve in their attitudes.

I mean that beyond the level of a sexist society upholding male privileges, I think it cements the idea that men and especially younger guys are just a certain fixed way. And it serves as a framing that front-runs even having to ask questions like how did these men learn these behaviors and attitudes, how should they think and act, how could they become more chill and fun people to be around. Not just for romantic partners but for male and female friendships generally.

And I don’t mean to be overly male focused because I certainly agree with posters saying that this affects everyone and is a general issue of being disconnected beyond just not having romantic partners.

I also don’t know anything about anything, and I’m not going to write off the conspiratorial angles, but the idea he was wearing a vest and the bullet ricocheted is confusing to me. If he was wearing soft armor, the thirty ought would’ve gone straight through and probably back out the other side. Am I supposed to believe he was wearing some super secret squirrel plates that’ll stop a rifle round but don’t show under a t-shirt, was hit in the upper torso, then the bullet ricocheted up and then diagonally or laterally through his neck? I don’t want to be gruesome, I don’t know what the entry and exit wounds on that should look like. If’n it were the camera behind him then how come it done gone out t’o’er side?

Thanks it’s fun to have roll-your-own seasoning blends, I’ll play with this. I often default to seasoned salt on things this looks like a way to add a lot more flavor with the same amount of saltiness. When the other poster said add it to savory dishes my mind immediately went to adding nooch to mashed potatoes and gravy.

Yeah the kielbasa ones are good too. When I had some I made a dish of cabbage and noodles with mock sausge, and the wheat pasta plus the vital wheat gluten was just too much wheat though lol, and I’m not like gluten averse or anything. I wonder how they’d hold up in a stew, they hold their shape pretty well and I’d imagine more so if you put them in a frying pan for a little while first. If there’s an Aldi near you they have a decent vegan meatball offering.
