Looks like fw12 is Intel and fw16 is AMD.

This is a feature, not a bug.

Technology@lemmy.world•YouTube rolls out more unskippable ads that make viewers wait even longer to watch videos - DexertoEnglish
11·1 year agoI’m actually looking to start a YouTube channel, but I don’t know if I should even bother since YouTube seems to be going out of its way to try to kill itself
That’s not the sole purpose of it. The way it does it was what was important. And that method is flawed.
An example: https://youtu.be/XDsLDhKG8Cs
It doesn’t do the one thing it’s meant to do.
Why use Tor? It’s been compromised for years now. Just use I2P. You can torrent with that too.
Just convince Elon they are his competition and watch this work itself out.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Will kernel-level anti-cheat ever work on linux?English
32·1 year agoShort answer: no
Long answer: only the most important things should even have such low-level access to the system. A fucking game is not in that category. Nooooooo

I hated arc but I really really wanted to like it. It was just too awkward to use

Games@lemmy.world•What's going on with Borderlands 2? Steam is giving it for free, but the game has 23% positive recent reviews.English
3·1 year agoThis is true. Even projects with good reputations get caught up in shit like the XZ back door in Linux.
If you haven’t read up on that fiasco, you really should look into it. It got way too far before being caught all because people suck and ruin things for others.
I choose what my iPhone fetches. Android and windows get third party apps I didn’t ask for with their updates. Apple doesn’t let accusers or vendors add bloat to their updates.
Samsung announced they will be putting ads on the lockscreens of new phones, using the front camera to stream the video into AI to gauge your reaction to the ad and influence which ads you see on the lockscreen.

71·1 year agoThere is nuance here. Not every crack is malicious but you have to assume they all are because some of them are. Trusting a source is irrelevant. Many security products will falsely tag cracked software as dangerous just because it’s cracked, not because it found a specific bit of nasty code, and this feeds the idea that you can’t believe when people tell you cracked software is unsafe. But there are many truly bad cracks out there. When in doubt, don’t trust it.
And you should always doubt free shit.
Your apps are loaded with them more than iOS apps are. Your App Store has far more scams than apples. Significant feature and security upgrades are withheld on most Android phones to encourage the purchase of another one, though to be fair that’s not true across every model anymore.
Hell, look at what Samsung is doing with their fucking lockscreens. Android could have been great. It should have been great. But it’s totally enshittified now.
Not wanting to feed children doesn’t seem very pro-life.
SSDs can get firmware updates like anything else.
Honestly one of the reasons i prefer iPhone to Android is I can use it without being marketed heavily to. Android always has tons of ads just everywhere.

Nintendo@lemmy.world•Staten Island GameStop Stapled Receipts To Switch 2s And Punctured The Screens Because Nintendo Boxed Them In The Weirdest Way PossibleEnglish
81·1 year agoThere’s a lot to hate Nintendo for, especially regarding the switch 2, but this is totally not on them.
Also, why the fuck were people in a GameStop in 2025?
