  • I had a family friend of my Nana from Hungary make a dessert from blueberries before my eyes when I was 14.

Rinse and place blueberries in a saucepan. If they’re a bit tart, add 1 or 2 Tablespoons of sugar. Warm of medium heat until some of the berries pop, creating juice. Optionally, add 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice. Remove from heat and let cool. Serve warm or chilled with a large dollop of sour cream.

My father’s career advise to my brother and me was “Make lots of money so I can come live with you when I get old.”

My brother didn’t like that advise so he did a bunch of research and asked a bunch of people about their careers. He got a masters in an Engineering field but hated working in that field. So he got another masters. He doesn’t use it for his career.

I studied Chemistry and left grad school to do software development with no degree in it (it was the 80s). I never used my degree either.

Confronting my dad about his bad career advise would have just gotten his Standard Response to Criticism™–But I’m lovable.

And no he never lived with either of us. But then he never go old.

  • Someone here said this cartoon is typical of pre-adolescent brains. A friend who’s the local “Jewish mother” of her block had the kids next door visiting her kids for a play date. She asked them if they wanted some cheese for a snack.

“I want goat cheese” said the 6yo boy.

The older 8yo was a little more polite “Do you have any brie?”

True story and so perfect I had to add it to a fanfic I was writing.
