Nearly fainted because I thought this was a new “iphone nano” phone, but alas it’s just an insanely overpriced case strap.

I was interested in what the cheapest new car was in the US, and apparently you can get a Nissan Versa brand new for just over $18,000. I would love to know how many cars are available below that $50k average sold price. There were even some SUVs under 20k, but as the article stated, it’s mostly rich people throwing off these stats.
This is basically the plot to Alien Earth.

Who asked for this? So much for user led design.

There are privacy preserving biometrics, as well as ways to determine age without breaching privacy or requiring identity, but you’re right none of the big platforms are using those methods.
Reading the article, the defendant requested his phone from a detective, unlocked it in front of and with the knowledge the detective was watching. Later when the detective was inspecting the phone, he used the password he had seen the defendant use previously to unlock the phone. So it’s not as bad as a cop forcing you to unlock the phone. Good to know that in New Jersey police departments are considered public spaces and treat them accordingly.

This is somehow more cringe than when Tim Cook waved the checkered flag at the Austin formula 1 race.

Nice try but I’m still not using Chrome browser ;)

Fwiw a lot of late stage CEOs even of big companies are way less rich than you’d think. Jim Farleys net worth is 21 million dollars. Still very very rich, but not billionaire rich.
Not making a judgement call on “orb” (which I assume is using some privacy preserving biometrics but honestly not sure), but why not leverage mobile devices? It seems like a lot of extra steps to use dedicated hardware for something like this.

Anyone want to team up to start up an organic tire manufacturer with all natural rubber tires?

The m4 ultra is going to really make a case for Apple gaming without compromise, you know, except for the actual games :(

Wish I could upvote this twice.

This is cool but what I really want are rollable screen phones like from Earth Final Conflict.

The New York State Department of Transportation wrote in 2021 that adding a lane to New York State Route 17 “would improve the flow of traffic and reduce delays, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions as a result of traffic congestion.”
If only there was some other, better way better way to reduce traffic.

Not even going to read the article but I’m going to go with “no, no they didn’t earn the price hike.” To me, to “earn” a price hike means new features or better functionality with the current platform, not just spamming me with mediocre content. Give me higher bitrate streaming, lossless audio, better ways to organize my watchlist, better desktop/laptop experience, etc, then MAYBE it’ll be worth paying a bit more to me.
Well it’s the New York post which is basically a tabloid.
