I always felt closer to the EU (well probably more when UK was a member) as a Canadian. Probably lots of my household words while growing up were British (for example thong, foot beachwear vs underwear)than say American English.

I hope we get a closer tie with them regardless, we are a relatively small country by gdp and population compared to many and I don’t want to deal with Nazis like it’s the 1940s. I played enough stealth games, not my thing. For lumber they have sections to log out for a period and shift them l, least how it was done when I was there in Canada. Essentially long term planning so by the time they need that lumber again it’ll be regrown to healthy levels, so they have a good idea area required for a season. We got lots of trees and non developed area but I assume similar in most places that do lots of logging…besides when it’s just done to clear areas that is, but not the usual rotation areas.

Been a few years (decades) since I’ve been involved in any way so perhaps things have changed but I think they’d try and keep that rotation going for longer term benefits. Due to needing road access and all for those spots they tend to be more remote, though I was in a small town in the middle of nowhere for most of my involved time I did end up in a more populated area and they still did similar. I was more IT and once had to go out to check out how their GPS was used, was a noticable drive to get out there, like 2ish hours I think. Can’t even recall why they asked I had no idea how their GPS was used properly or to make any changes.

Was the same when my father worked at the mill as well. Cause pretty sure i asked similar at one time. Their yard held like 1million cubic meters of wood often. So they stock up… Though lots of swamp in that area so most logging was in winter to stock up and run over summer with minimal input. Always fun to drive highways and get behind a logging truck heh, couldn’t help but think of final destination.

While I agree that all would be great, it’s the power they hold with the money and they won’t hold the same power if us little people have those rights. Like imagine if everyone had enough of a safety net to protest one of the disgustingingly rich person’s ideas? They’d blow a gasket thinking they can’t be told otherwise.

The entitlement that comes with that weath is part of the issue is all I mean, that’s why these people with their wealth fuck up things. They are the idiot yelling at the minimum wage person but have the resources to buy the freaking franchise to get their way. He was fantastic in everything but I always remember him as Pennywise. Didn’t see Rocky Horror till almost a decade ago, musicals not overly my thing is all, but that helped me see his greatness. Plus his bits in spoof movies can see him saying ‘wilderness girls’ in the less talked about Nation Lampoons Loaded Weapon 1. If you like cheesy but amusing spoof movies from before ‘… movie’ movies it was up there with Men in Tights, well almost, hard to compare with Mel Brooks ones.

Do enjoy a good 4th wall break. Didn’t learn about the term till years after enjoying comedies that had it, always enjoy the mel brooks, national lampoons, satire type comedies. (Spaceballs, loaded weapon, well also mel brooks but men in tights I think has least one too). Okay Mel Brooks is just hilarious but for satire I’ll also say Not Another Teen Movie or Scary Movie (first one).

Yeah I end up learning new things a lot of the time, not something that work always gives me. Mean sometimes depends on the programming issue. As much as I love learning new programming stuff it’s fun is also learn about other hobbies or random other things. For examples I’ve done calculus courses because I never understood it well, still there but I tried basic first year university again. Also blender for 3d art, not an artist but thought it’d be neat. It was. Even plain programming learning unity and new frameworks that I’d never use at work (Maui was one) to see how they were.

Then there’s music, drone flying (way more fun with full control drones I am still figuring out the sims though) as other things. I want to keep busy but I definitely don’t want to keep working at the code my work has me do, ugh visual basic for starters.

So he can go screw himself if that’s how he thinks people want to spend their time vs what they could spend time on. Talk about privileged.

Not overly related but I rarely hear of STARS. At one point our school (grades 7-12)did a 24 hour relay marathon for STARS (no idea on money that was raised), but being a fat kid I was support crew making sure people were ready for their lap had water etc. They didn’t technically budget the support people sleeping time or spots to sleep. I slept in the closest bathroom since it was done in a city park, but not long or often. Though runners will still up about every hour for their lap (probably 10-15min or so run been awhile) which I’d have hated more anyways.

Overall I think it was still good to put effort for STARS but you wouldn’t have heard me saying that at the time.

I gave it a fair go after about 600 hours in factorio (before the expansion, actually possibly most before version 1.0), it’s decent and while the building feels quicker once you get the hang of things I never cared for the actual non building parts with the animals you had to deal with, and more jumping required.

Plus half the fun of factorio was bots and blueprints and watching the swarm work then your power draining cause you didn’t account for surge. Unsure if they added them in eventually to satisfactory.

Also did many hours in Dyson sphere, something about creating production chains is quite relaxing, along with nicely made train routes that never stopped due to poor signaling though that was just factorio. Only put 60 hours in Dyson Sphere, proably cause it wasn’t full release unsure where they’re at now been a few years…half a decade whatever, time flies these days.

Yeah just wait until the US becomes the country other democracies like western nations are installing their own government in. That’ll be an interesting time. So far the Trump administration has shown how inept they are from top to bottom, just feather his balls and hell roll over like a suckling pig.

I just watched in the mouth of madness in memory of Sam Neill, me and my GF switch weekend of movie choice, wasn’t enough for Mr Neill so still doing Jurassic Park week after next. I don’t want to subject her to Event Horizon again.

I forgot it was a John Carpenter film I just loved the Lovecraftian bits, even if my first watch I knew nothing of Lovecraft. Wasn’t till least 20 years later I figured out that cosmic horror was my jam…

I keep meaning to watch Peele’s movies even if I don’t watch much horror anymore. Well some but fewer slashers these days for sure. Always enjoy when I see him in stuff though, that is one fun picture.

My work computer had an update yesterday, logged in and my usual browser wasn’t the default. Have seen it a few times. So while I usually agree if it is my usual I change it back to that. I hate windows programs asking to be my default, I know what I want, if it’s you you’ll know otherwise piss off.

So many windows notifications lately for the stupidest crap. I already set it up how I liked now stop bugging me so I can write code. Also if I wanted backups, to set up a Microsoft account my windows install will be the first to know. Otherwise piss off.

Do they get to the crescendo? I don’t know much about music but trying my hand and took some course and there was a comment ‘listen to this one it sounds like it’s building the entire song’ but the song never gets there. Bit melancholy/sad type tones chord progression but seems like it’s epic in its sound. Course the epic part may be due to the composer knowing his stuff but the idea was a chord progression that kept building to nowhere.

So curious of that sounds about right for your description. I forget the name but when the instructor put a link I was like oh yeah that song, like lots of movies or probably commercials used similar for the emotion. À

Just be cool to know another name if that sounds right is all. Enjoy finding more examples to compare and notice what makes the sound (even if I can’t reproduce it)
